questions on cd based emulation..

ok i've never ventured into sega cd/dreamcast/saturn/ps1/ps2 but i want to.. is the basic idea you load an iso file as the rom, but you have to have a bios file loaded into the emulator beforehand?

You have been missing out. All those consoles had epic games, Lunar 1 and 2 for sega cd, Snatcher is another good sega cd, Dreamcast has Marvel vs capcom 22 and many other hits. PS has the final fantasy series and many many action games.

Ok so yes need bios files for most/all of the emulators. Not a big deal. Get the bios for the system, Tell the emu where the bios is in the conifguration. Some of these emulators can be tricky. Never at all impossable. There is a great forum here and we can guide you on your way.

Two execptions (as always ): Dont ask where to obtain the bioses, Don't ask where to get the games.

Most of all have fun. Its a great pleasure to run these great emulators, Its even a greater pleasure to enjoy the games.

yep i know what NOT to ask.. i did play playstation and ps2 a lot in my day but i missed out totally on sega cd and saturn so i am curious. I'm sure i'll have more questions down the road.

Well I'am 28 I remember when those systems were in thier height.

Id recommed Fusion for sega cd, SSF for saturn, PSX for playstation,PSCX2 for PS2, and NullDC for dreamcast.

i'm guessing ps2 has the highest requirements? what kind of computer specs do i need to run the games well or normal at like 30 fps which is about what they ran at.

I thought 60fps is what most are looking for, Saturn and PS2 and dreamcast will be the most demanding. You can get by running all but ps2 on a core 2 duo 2.4 ghz with 4 gig memory and a 256mb nvidia card 9800.

i have a 256 mb geforce 6800, that should be ok for psx,dreamcast, saturn right? I just need to get a core 2 and some ram and i think i'll be fine.
