Hi everybody,

I'd like some advice for mapping out the shift functions for the buttons on my cab. It's a two stick cab with seven buttons for each player (typical). The player buttons are for shifting. There are already two dedicated exit and pause buttons so those aren't needed.

How do you guys have your shift buttons set up -- particularly for MAME?

Thanks in advance.

Shift as in the Shift key? Shift as in the action in a driving game? or shifted key as an feature of IPAC where you press a key combo to perform specific actions.

Personally I use an IPAC and re assign all my keys so that CTRL,ALT,SHIFT,SPACE etc are not used. This leads to no windows hotkey interferance. If your taking about something else this obviously wont help.

Sorry... Shift key as in IPAC style (although they're actually Ultrastiks -- so the shift is for shifting the joystick buttons).

When I was using an IPAC I also reassigned all the keys, since CTRL, ALT and SHIFT created issues such as you mentioned, plus some emulators wouldn't accept them for mapping.

So basically what I'm asking, is what do people have the arcade buttons set to as the secondary functions. There are a lot of functions in MAME, and I'm having difficulty deciding which to map to the buttons when they have been shifted.
