Just installing my pc into my new Thermaltak Mystic HTPC case and running GameEx as the main front end for EVERYTHING!!!

But ive got a few probs -

1) Does the Media Center remote work solely without Media Center running - so I can use the remote with GameEx alone

2) How do you run MP3 files? (can we add WinAmp as the player also?)

3) I'm registered but the nag screen comes u now and again since 5.13? why

4) Has anyone got a handy list of good RSS Feeds and

5) Is there anyway to change the menu selections so I can specific what appears on what menu?

6) My MAME Game Category list has mucked up since 5.13 does anyone know what files I need to change again to get all my games running under my own categories.

Thanks. And keep up the good work Tom

To run Internet Explorer add an html application, using whatever your default home page is in internet Explorer.

In answer to your other questions Essex boy (just kidding Im not too far from you!)

1. I dont know if the remote will work on a standard version of Windows XP. Someone else may be able to help, but Media Center is almost just a version of XP that has an extra app installed called Media Center. This app does not need to be run to use the remote in GameEx, as the remote is just a hardware device (ie in device manager).

2. you can use the Jukebox in GameEx to play MP3 files, you need to add all your audio files to windows media player 9/10 library, then therll all be available in GameEx. Unless you have special requirements, this should be enough for you. You can also make audio play from startup etc.

3. That's worrying to me, could you have a double/tripple check its not something your doing, and let me know if this is still happening, with a bit more info on how if possible. Are you deffinitly running 5.13?

4. I'd like this too :)

5. No, not yet but in a future upgrade. You can change the text of the menus though through the config.

6. Did you try updating the list again?

Hope this helps Neil.

1. I tried the remote in standards windowsXP and it does work, sort of. I couldnt' get all the buttons to work as they should in gameEx. Like the channel buttons for page up and page down and a few others. The arrow keys and enter keys worked fine, as did the back button.

sweet. thanks.

is there any other software in the medi centre that is required in the normal windows xp which would make the other buttons work though?

i'm sure there would be something out there?

or even the winamp type remotes?

Does anyone here have a Soundblaster remote? I just got an external Soundblaster Live! 24 Bit (in order to get Dolby Digital out from my laptop) and I got a remote with it that I'm supposed to be able to use with the app of my choice.

Haven't got around to test it with GameEx yet, but if it works, I might use GameEx for more than just Fronting MAME. Does anybody know how to configure the remote? Some .ini tweaking perhaps?

If I can get it to work, there might be some new GameEx users from the Creative forums here soon...
