I am running Gameex 9.83 on WinXP SP3. This is running on my HTPC which routes through my AV receiver and on to my TV via HDMI (ATI graphics card with HDMI out). If I leave Gameex running on my HTPC, while it is idle when I return and try to navigate it crashes. This seems to occur if for example I switch the input on my TV to another input source and then switch back to the HTPC in 10 or 15 mins.

When I return to gameex, I can still see the animation occurring on the selected navigational item, as soon as I try to navigate (via my joypad), the animation freezes, and about 2 seconds later the screen flashes black and then returns to Gameex, and the animation then begins again. If I try to navigate a second time at this point, Gameex will then crash and generate the attached error.

Another issue I notice, but am not sure if it is related, is that when I launch Gameex for the first time, I do not get the navigation sound when scrolling on the first screen. After I have selected an item, I then begin to hear sounds on the subsequent screens and even on the main screen if I return after this point.

This issue seems to be specific to Gameex, as I have no issues returning to other applications such as IE, or the Windows desktop.

If there are any other details I can provide in order to help you troubleshoot this please let me know. I have also submitted the crash report several times when Gameex requested.

I will also be applying the registration key that I received tonight in a bit, although I don't expect that will have any impact on troubleshooting.

Thanks!

This is an issue with audio. GameEx is cashing when trying to play the select sound. Do you have the audio going through the HDMI from the HTPC. What card is it?

Yes, the sound is going through HDMI. I utilize a Radeon HD 4650 for my video/sound card.

Sorry, just realized I had stated this was an Nvidia card in the first post....that was incorrect, getting my PC's confused ;-)

Well, install the latest ATI drivers so we can rule that out. OK?

I upgraded to the latest video and HDMI audio drivers from ATI (9.1), started up gameex, then switched my TV over to another input, then back to gameex after about 15 min. The software crashed with the same error as with the older drivers.

Please try the attached replacement GameEx.exe

While not perfect, this is a good workaround for me. With this new .exe after idle time Gameex makes no sounds at all, but still functions and does not crash. If I use it immediately after launch I do get sounds.

I really appreciate all of your help!
