I'd like to have a way to turn adult MAME roms on and off (or filter/unfilter them) without having to re-update my game list, is there an easy way of doing this?

Thanks,

Gamyr

Open up the gameex config and under MAME settings, you should find an option to turn them off and on.

You can turn the adult games on/off like kenclops said, but that requires an update of your list to change anything. I'm sure you've already found that...

Unfortunately, there is no easy way to do this despite it being a common request in the features requests thread. There have been discussions about work-arounds though.

SOOO, the only thing I can really recommend is consider using 2 installations of GameEx. If you get things set up how you want, you can copy the entire "C:\Program Files\GameEx" directory to another folder like "C:\Program Files\GameEx (Adult)". Then go to the setup for that new installation and turn on adult games and update your list. Now, this won't make it possible to hit a single button and turn the list on and off, but it will make it possible to do it in a couple minutes (however long it takes to start up GameEx on your machine).

If you are running GameEx on a dedicated cabinet, the best solution is to add an application that will run a script to launch the alternate version of GameEx and kill the process for the first one. It's not super clean, but it should work and get you what you want...

Yeah, see my first post. ;)

Darn, I thought I'd have to go that route.

Nope, I'm not, but that might be a neat idea anyway. Where could I get something (the app/script, not the cabinet) like that? I don't know anything about scripting.

Thanks,

Most people here use AHK (AutoHotKey) to generate our scripts and loaders. AHK is really easy to write code for and has a lot of help via it's forum and nice documentation. Also, you can record actions that you physically perform on the computer that you would like reproduced (open blah.exe, click position x-y, etc.). I'm not sure if anyone put together anything back in one of the old threads or not, but either way, this shouldn't be hard to do.

I personally would consider this a really easy way to learn a bit of AHK if you have the time. If you need some/a lot of help with it, let us know and someone can either step you through it or write something to do the job. I'm thinking this is a pair of ~5 line scripts. Each one will need to be set up in one version or the other of GameEx as an application. Should be pretty easy really!

We should consider starting a thread to link to scripts & utilities on this site (and others) that are useful to GameEX users, that aren't already on the Configs & Wrappers page. For Instance, Mame_Loader is a bitch to find, if you don't know where to look.

I think Tom put something on the main homepage a while back, but I don't think it's getting updated regularly. There have been a few really helpful scripts/wrappers written since that was put together (and a lot of older ones that have been updated), so it would be good to update that page.
