If you think it's worthwhile, I'll work on it (I've got time ;) ) I wouldn't think an ini file would be necessary... Just output the code needed, and move on... Unless your thinking of storing a users preferences for p1b1, etc...

You know what else would be cool, is if it had the default inputs for common emulators...

How about pictures of the emulators original controls, so you can see what buttons you are assigning (as some emulators (SSF?) have...

How crazy do you want to go? Talk to Me!

Honestly I blieve CPWizard is a better app for all that.

I just think a simple app to parse a INI with the needed mappings is sufficent. This way the user doesn't even have to know anything about scripting

[Current Key]

key1=q

key2=w

key3=e

key4=r

key5=t

key6=y

[Remapped key]

key1=a

key2=s

key3=d

key4=f

key5=g

key6=h

Then the program can read the INI and parse the info to remap like

q::a

w::s

ETC.....

The INI can be named and saved. Then run like I mentioned above. Key2key.exe EmuName.INI

I think having a default keys per emu is a good idea but may not work very well as a user may not define the keys in the same order the emulator wants.

Do you think I would try to compete with Headkaze in the programming dept? That's a good one! :P

That's what the pictures would be for, so the user could see what key is being mapped. So, show a picture of the original controller, with the default inputs for the emulator already in place, and a box to enter a new key... It would only get messy, if the defaults got changed in the emulator, or something like that.

If we're just going to do an ini, then a tutorial may be more appropriate.

By all means take it and run with it.

I think as my time permits I may make a app too.. Just for fun

That's it? No more discussion?

I'm just thinking if they are going to enter both keys into an ini, they might as well put :: between them, and be done with it.

I'll play around....

Now that I have got everything working (keys remapped, plays through gameex no problem) - I realise I really don't understand laserdisc games at all.

Brian, when Space Ace loads up, what am I supposed to do because all that happens is a blue man says "you can't win", over and over again. Am I supposed to be doing something or is the game not working properly?

Also, with Dragons Lair, I fall through this bridge, then I press UP and I get up, but then I get killed by these snake things from the water. No matter what I press I get killed. Is that right or is the game buggered?

Same with Roadblasters - I get to the point where this box flashes at the rear of this car, then I die. Am I supposed to shoot it or something? How?

Is all this normal?

:(

which rom version are you using for dragon's lair? you have to press "up" and then directly "right" after that to enter the castle. you can try out the original rom (lair) which skips the bridge scene....

laserdisc games are quite hard to master... in dragons lair you have several small sequences which are shuffled and usually you have to know what to press very wuickly when a new room comes up. you need to know the combinations to pass a level! when you have played it a couple of times you will proceed further and further... for me and my buddies this game was highly addictive for a while!!

to give you an idea when to press what, check this out:

this video is for dragons lair dos version but its still very similar to the arcade version
