emphatic
I've sold my homebuilt cabinet recently. But now I have something that "suits my needs" a little better.A Taito EGRET II!(The left picture is taken with a flash and the right is without, it's just 1 cabinet )29" dual sync monitorStereo soundEasy monitor rotation mechanism (even though this will probably be in vertical mode all the time)Plenty of room insideFull JAMMA harness (so I can play my PCB's, this is a feature that made me sell my old cabinet since it was MAME only)See more pictures of the EGRET II here: http://www.zax.com.au/egret2.htmlI'm gonna put in new Seimitsu joysticks and buttons soon, this has been in a Japanese arcade, so the controls are pretty much worn out.I'm waiting for another sitdown cabinet with a 29" trisync high res monitor to arrive from China that I'm gonna use for horizontal games.Emph

Jack Sparrow
WORK IN PROGRESS....First attempt at a cabinet, using the Asteroids style heavy cabinet plans. An as yet unnamed Mame Cab, built using 3/4" MDF, Celeron 2.8, 1gig RAM, 160Gig HDD, 17" TFT and using Altec Lansing 5.1 remote speakers buried within. Its taken about a month all up so far, on and off, its currently awaiting its side, bezel, control panel and marquee art and of course its joysticks, buttons and IPAC board.. Its functional though and runs as sweet as a nutThe control panel is modular and can be removed for wiring, everything is held together with turnbutton fasteners, so it could be stripped for transport in a matter of about 45 minutesIts of course running Gameex as its front end, because it does everything you could possibly needIgnore the current marquee, its only in there to test the lighting, its going to be replaced with a Tron Themed one soon
ace3093
Hey Iano,I am running a Samsung Flat panel 24" lcd so I am not positive if that theme will run on an arcade monitor. The original monitor that came with the cabinet died about a week after I picked it up. I just finally got around to mounting the monitor in cabinet with and added the glass for the original arcade look. This was my first project and I am happy with the results. I just need to get some artwork for the sides. I was thinking about getting colored t-molding but canâ??t make up my mind. Here is an updated pic with monitor mounted inside the cabinet. Tailslide
Here's my cabinet just done. I am new to woodworking but went slow and tried to be picky.. this is based on Knievel's 'arcade mania'. Decided to go with a 32" LCD as the tube screens seem to have a high failure rate and will only get more expensive and harder to find. My 4 year old loves playing anything with superheroes on it now. Hunk_4TH
Heres an updated picture of mine. It's a totally new cabinet had to tear the old one down due to it's huge size. Someone actually threw this cabinet away so I jumped all over it. It's in pretty decent shape too. Only thing that sucks is who ever threw it away stripped the Marquee/light, cut everything on the monitor and took the cp out. but other than that it's in good shape little bit of wood chips on the bottom but I'm happy with it. Sorry for the crappy picture I really need a new camera

deathknight
Hi:This is our first attempt at a MAME arcade cabinet and we would like some feedback, this took longer than I could have ever guessed, but it is finally complete. Here are some pictures: as you can see it is a Star Wars Empire Strike Back theme. We have a 27 inch Happ VGA monitor, a SlikStik classic controller, two ACT labs Heavy Duty PC USB light guns, and a working HAPP dual coin door with power to the coin door lights and credits register when inserting a quarter. We also installed two eight inch computer case fan on top of the cabinet to increase air flow with hole in the base. To access the computer are using a remote login also a wireless keyboard and mouse. We started using 3Darcade for the FE with all the 3D models of the cabinets and the videos. But now we have switch to GameEx for a FE it is more reliably and ease of use. The computer is an older Gateway 2.3Ghz Pentium with 2 GB of Rram and Nvidia GeForce4 graphics card and 1.5 TB of hard drives we were planning to use this as a media server to. Now for the games will have MAME & MAME32 running with the classical four and eight way joystick games also tracker ball games like Golden Tee, and light guns games. Also we have Pinball Mane running with several tables. We also have Daphne running Dragon Lair, Space Ace, and Dragon Lair 2 etc. We also have a virtual CD running also so we have the American Laser Game which were light gun laserdisc games example were Mad Dog McCree and Crime Patrol. Also using the virtual CD and the light guns were are running the House of the Dead 1, 2, 3 and Virtual COP 1, 2.. The next project is a cocktail table if anyone has any tips for the first time MAME cabinet builder or any other games we can add in please e-mail or post on the forum. Thanks
Stu1983
Finally decided to take some photo's of my cab so I thought I upload a few of them, I still want to get some side and pannel art thoughBy request I've uploaded my monitor bezel to File Front It's a 200MB PhotoShop PSD file with all the different sections stored as individual components which should allow for easy editing of the text and what not, I've attached a low res preview of itStu

daweinst
I built a mini-IPX based computer in an original NES case. It emulates MAME, NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, and WinDVD. I use the GameEx shell and GameEx to control it all. Thanks for everyone's help getting GameEx configured. Strechman
I actually completed this in November ’07. The design borrows from many I have seen on this site and others. The Cabinet is a modified design from Sasquatch’s Arcade Paradise 3. You can see the influence on the cabinet artwork from Knievel’s Neon MAME. Why mess with perfection? Some Highlights:Goodies:Wells Gardner D9400Happ 3 in. guilty
I'm kind of new to these forums, but have been lurking for quite some time.About a 3 months ago I bought an old Neo-Geo cab with Bust-A-Move.It was in bad shape, I cleaned it up, gutted it, and mamed it out. It took me about 3 weeks, but a lot of hours.I did cheat and used a x-arcade panel. Only because the equation of time + money > buying x-arcade.And I acutally got more buttons and functionality for less money.I have a before pic and after. Let me know what you guys think.edit- there's some kind of strangeness going on in the after pic. the paint on the cab is not smeared like that.guilty1
wubble
Just registered this wonderful program, and it works so well that I'm inspired to build a cabinet, probably starting with an x-arcade controller and a few sheets of MDF?* In the meantime here is my very humble setup. The controller is a plasticy playstation arcade stick made by thrustmaster, and the game is batman the movie on the zx spectrum (roots!).edit: just ordered a dual x-arcade from the states woohooedit2: So here is a picture *slightly* more worthy of this threadedit3: Added a cheapo old-fashioned sony trinitron*I've built a racing simulation cockpit for Grand Prix Legends so I know that it's a big project
