Attract Mode / Screensave not working! *Log Inside*

Hi,

gameex is working on both of my mame cabinets.

The one problem is, that the attract mode / screensaver doesn't work at all.

I tried all options in the advanced settings and in the gameex.ini, but i don't get it to start.

If i just start gameex the attract mode isn't starting at all, also it is configured to do so.

If i start it manually from the programm listing / start screensaver, i see a black screen for 1/4 second and thats.

i will try to post my log file here.

Has anybody any ideas?

Mame and all my emulators run great within gameex.

Same thing for me, Attract Mode doesn't work, even though I have it enabled. I figured it was me since nobody else posted, but maybe there is hope that a bug has crept in?

Try disabling the screen saver info bar.

But, it's the same with artworks / bezel for vertical games, why do i have to deactivate those nice features, so that it works?

That was a trouble shooting step. It sounds like there's a problem with the game info bar on whatever version of MAME and GameEx you are using. Can you post the version of both so that Tom can figure out the problem?

Yes i can:

Mame 0.126

Gameex 9.47

No vertical game starts, when i activate the bezel / artwork funktion

I didn't try your troubleshooting suggestion, but I'm using Mame.127, GameEx9.62 (recently updated from 9.53)

My first suggestion would have been upgrading to the current version of GameEx, but if Tempest is already there, then that won't likely help. I think this is something that Tom will probably need to check into.

I have the same problem with the actual version and mame32, version 109. It starts, screen will go black for 1 second and he returns, and this is very dangerous since the picture will burn in the Arcade monitor !! Also when I force to start the screensaver in GameEx I will get the same result. The Log file says nothing spevial, just the usual thing "..started mame32....." and then "exiting screensaver...". What can I do ? I can not find in the actual GameEx version the point to deactivate the "screen saver info bar. ". Where is it ??

I solved the problem via DIRECTLY editing the gameex.ini. Its much more better to do it like that...

The log file won't tell you why MAME didn't load. To figure that out, you need to run the "Run Last Game.bat" file in the GameEx Start folder. You might need to add PAUSE after the last line in order to see the error message. Once you figure out what it's choking on, you will have an idea what needs fixing. If you can't figure out the problem, post the error here and someone can help decipher it for you.

So a general troubleshooting tip for anybody who has this problem : Try to deactivate all the bezel. This worked for me...

my GameEx-screensaver also doesn't work with playing mame roms , when advancemame is enabled in the settings.

Bezel is deactivated.

When I run "Run Last Game.bat" this message appears :

Error : unknown option : -sound_volume

But in the AdvanceMame configuration setup page I have no such command line .

Where can I find this and how can it be solved ?

According to the docs this option is still supported in advancemame. What version of AdvanceMAME are you running?
