All my vertical games are shown sideways. Meaning they are 90 degrees rotates to the left.

How can i change that, to normal vertical view ?

i tried setting ON ( normally off ): don't use bezel -> didn't change a bit.

Support for vertical monitors off ( default ) -> didn't change a bit

in mame i checked my default, and also they game settings, rotate = none. ( which is good ).

Somebody has an idea ?

It sounds like you are using MameUI32?

You will want to set the rotation to "Default".

Rotation "None" means "Don't rotate any games, play them as in the arcade", so the vertical games would be sideways.

Posted

I looked also in Mame, the strange thing is: it on default ( both game options and game ). And it shows the begin screen, when you start a game ( rom version/legal bla bla ), normal. But in the game its rotated too the left.

I'm sorry, I thought you said you had them set to "None"... My Bad!

Look at this page: http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/mameguidenew/mameguide.html

Specifically: Core Rotation Options

If you click on each one, it will give you a brief description of each option. Look in your Mame.ini (not mame32.ini), and see if you have any of those options on. Also check your "Mame Options" in GameEx.

If you can't figure it out, post the contents of Mame.ini

first: thnx for your help! I appreciate it very much.

I checked which version of Mame i have. It's Mame32 0.92, i also tested it with Mame32 0.59. This one is on a DVDRom which works fine on my laptop and other pc. But in my Gameex/Arcade pc, it also rotates wrong.

So it has to be my pc.

- It worked in the beginning for weeks. I only updated my roms, and removed the bezel option ( which i put back, but didn't helped ) , and updated gameex to the latest version.

I changed display options under XP, color depth also. Nothing helped.

In 0.92 and also in 0.59, when i say: NO Rotation. The legal notice and rom info is good, but the game is rotate 90 degrees after that. When my option is default rotation, then both the game and the legal notice/rom info are rotated 90 degrees.

Every, not vertical, game works fine.

Is there anything else i can try ?

First: Your Welcome!

It's not GameEx, GameEx doesn't have the ability to do what you are saying. (AFAIK)

What you posted was your Mame32.ini. What I needed to see was your mame.ini. It is located in the ini folder in your Mame 32 folder.

I'm kinda new to mame.ini trouble shooting so please forgive me if I give you bad information.

2 things to try.

1, I'm trying to find the setting explanation for d3deffectrotate 1

But not being sure of its function currently lets skip that one first (though you might wanna try setting it to 0"

2, depending on the rotation, try changing either autror or autorol to 1 (Auto rotate right / Auto rotate left) this command should only effect games that are "vertical"

pulled from some docs

_______________________________________

Rotating the Screen

Some games have the monitor set vertically in the arcades, if you have a fancy rotating Flat Panel monitor you could use the autorol feature in MAME, this will only effect games that have a vertical monitor so putting that switch on Gradius would have no effect

Rotates the screen left

mame twinbee -autorol

Rotates the screen right

mame twinbee -autoror

I would look at: norotate 0

Normally, a zero (0) would mean no, and a one (1) would mean yes.

This shows norotate 0, which means no, I don't want to not rotate.

A double negative is a positive, this is the same thing as as saying rotate 1, yes I do want to rotate.

Posted

Don't know if it's the same as what I have.

I got a Vertical orientated screen dedicated for Vertical games.

In GameEX I've set in options monitor rotate -90 , I've haven't touched any settings in mame. I'm using mameui32, but works for my other emulators too..

Posted

That rotates GameEx and all games in MAME as well. I think the problem here is that only some games are rotated. If that's correct, then it *shouldn't* be related to that setting in GameEx.

Posted

I found it.

It had nothing to do with a rotation option. Strange enough.

It was the option in Mame32 to use direct draw. When i set this on off, my screen doesn't rotate anymore. That explaines why my settings did work on my laptop and other pc. They have other videocards, and somehow my video in my Gameex/Arcade had problems with that direct draw option. <_<

Thanx for your help guys! ;)
