hello again,

I'm up to the Karaoke part of my project. Karaoke works great with CDG + MP3 using the directX plugin but can not play BIN files. Although Windows Media Player plays the file with an initial warning, it plays flawless. The files are associated with directx karaoke automatically but they do not appear on the karaoke song list on GAMEEX.

If I play them on WMP, shouldn't they be recognized in gameex?

Any help will be much appreciated. (I want to get my Michael Jackson glove out already!! =) )

Not necessarily. They may play in WMP but I think Tom has to add the extension in GameEx. I could be wrong. The plugin also plays MP3+G Zipped. I've requested Tom adding the zip extension as well but maybe he'll jump in and read this to verify how things work. I never heard anything when I mentioned it before. Tom does get busy and hard for him to see everything. I recommend posting in the features topic where he's guaranteed to see it.

Just rename the bin files to kar or cdg and it will play them.

I tried adding the extensions for zip and zipping up an mp3 and cdg together, but it doesnt seem to want to play it in GameEx. So its not going to cut it I think. Unless im missing something thats special about the format?

I've only got very few karaoke files and none in .bin format, ill see if I can find one somewher.

Nothing special other than it does what your zip support does. It temp unzips and plays. Maybe the version of Karaoke for DX? I have version 3.0. I'm able to play them in WMP. Not really an issue as I use karaoke hosting software for KJ'ing karaoke but would be cool to implement if possible. Also sub directory support like you have for music would be cool. I have a big collection of karaoke (300,000 +) and have them in sections by label. Would really enhance the karaoke experience. Lots of stuff I could suggest for karaoke but not sure how much you wanna put into it. LOL.

Didnt realise there was a newer version available. Ill update the GameEx install with that. Seems to work fine with version 3. So this will be in the next release. Im happy to hear your suggestions, not sure when therll get implemented, but go for it.

Ahhh good deal! Thanks Tom! Well you know if they're not implemented that I'll just figure out a way for it to work. LOL. If all else fails, will just script something up.

As far as suggestions go you want me to post here or you want me to post in the requests topic?

Well I've already put the basic features I want there. Here's the post. Will wait for those before i ask for more and actually looks like you just fixed my zip request.

I'm going to try that. I'll let you know if it works. If it does, I'm going to kick myself in the nads (possible if you play hacky sack)

Renaming the file works but its VERY slow in playing it. When renaming it back to bin, it works great. =(

nevermind, Tom just updated Gameex to read zip and bin files.
