  1. Thanks to everyone for the replies. I'll give it a try and report back for others to see =)
  2. Hello again everyone. Haven't posted on the forum in months, I do apologize (little bundle of joy started to walk). Any hoot, I got the MAME bug again and its itching so MUCH. I'm scrapping my work and going to buy a new cabinet (selling old with mamewah). I'm sticking with GameEx since it's probably (IS) the BEST front end out there. Question: Since I registered GameEx back in the version 8 days, does my registration key work with the new version 10? or do i need to use some utility? Thanks in Advance! (Feels great to be back!) -Dedos
  3. Thanks for the reply. Yes, both files. The game initializes but doesn't get passed that "push test button"
  4. Hello everyone, Silly question but I'm running into a problem when trying to run DDR roms. Everytime I try to run it, it's asking me to hit the "test button" during the rom board testing . The rom doesnt continue loading. Which is the test button? or the combination of buttons? Thanks! D

  6. Great news Tom, thanks. Now I could play my bin files!! WOOT!

Renaming the file works but its VERY slow in playing it. When renaming it back to bin, it works great. =(

I'm going to try that. I'll let you know if it works. If it does, I'm going to kick myself in the nads (possible if you play hacky sack)
  9. Thanks.

    Karaoke Formats

hello again, I'm up to the Karaoke part of my project. Karaoke works great with CDG + MP3 using the directX plugin but can not play BIN files. Although Windows Media Player plays the file with an initial warning, it plays flawless. The files are associated with directx karaoke automatically but they do not appear on the karaoke song list on GAMEEX. If I play them on WMP, shouldn't they be recognized in gameex? Any help will be much appreciated. (I want to get my Michael Jackson glove out already!! =) ) -Dedos
  12. Did you check if you had any other codecs installed on your system? (divx?)
  13. thanks for the replies. I just gave in and copied the files from the folders to the root folder. I think i had enough complications last night with my avisnaps =). Thanks! Dedos.
  14. Hello again, Is there a way to get gameex to read avisnaps subfolders instead of dumping all the avisnap files into 1 folder? subfolders # A, B, C, ETC ? Thanks! Dedos
  15. Thanks for your Help Hunk. I'll get that info a little later since its getting late here. (it IS late). Belinda: thanks for the input. I will definately look into the ffdshow settings. I actually looked at them right before i noticed I was running HiQ. Thanks Dedos.
  16. Well, I missed that one "if gameex is running sluggish" sticky. I uninstalled the Nvidia drivers and installed the recommended drivers in the sticky "15. NVidia unified drivers newer than 66.93 and older than 81.85 seem to have serious bugs with DirectX 2D support. Get the latest drivers, or you can get 66.93 drivers here direct from this site (English) or here from NVidia. Note: on older cards you may still need to use the older drivers." So far, its running great. Thanks! Dedos
  17. Well Good news... I was messing around so much with codecs that I forgot to revert back to SQ and was only testing in HiQ with the FDD codecs. The intro and emumovies SQ are working with FDDSHOW codecs. I'm pretty sure I'll find another flaw in my system...but until then, THANKS for all your help. -Dedos. PS: does anyone know how to get the HiQ working? Remember, they were working with the other codecs.
  18. Thanks for the reply. Yes I started with the latest then reverted to the 2005 version from gameex downloads. I'm using windows XP (fresh install) sp3. Gforce 4mx with latest drivers (2006 i think). I'm going to try to dissect the codecs package. Does anyone know what codecs the intro needs versus what the emumovies need? Thanks! Dedos
  19. ABA ABA CADABRA!! I WANT TO REACH OUT AND GRAB YA!
  20. I'm using the HiQ but the SQ has the same results. I can play both versions on WMP with no issues. I'm testing with all 1944 roms - 19xx roms low and Hi. It's just so odd I get different results with different codecs.
  21. Thanks Hunk. I downloaded k-lite codecs and uninstalled the previous codecs. Still no good. I tried FFDSHOW on another computer with gameex for testing and I get the same results. I even tried running the emumovies on a smaller panel and still no good. With Klite i dont see the intro. So results are: Vista Codecs: Emumovies run seamless, Intro movies dont work FFDSHOW codecs: Emumovies run on a 2 second frame delay, Intro movies work K-lite codecs: Emumovies run ok, intro movies dont work. What am I doing wrong? Thanks Dedos
  22. Thanks for the replies! Ok... So I uninstalled the Vista codecs and installed the FFDSHOW codecs and now the intro works BUTTTT my emumovies are once again on a 2 second frame delay =( . Damned If I do, damned if I don't.... Any Ideas how I could have the best of both worlds? Seems like tonight is going to be an alllll niter! Here is my noobie 2 cents (please bare with me) since FFDSHOW and Vista Codecs are a combination of many codecs, wouldn't I just need to install the indvidual codecs neccessary to run these 2 type of videos? Or are they the same codec (divx?) Thanks again for your quick replies. (HUNK: I tried your suggestion, and still no good. thanks!)
  23. I'm trying not to bore everyone with my issues...but I'm getting closer to sealing up my cabinet. I tried using an intro movie (the cool mame lightning one [startup.avi]) but can't get it to work. I placed the file in c:\video made sure the Multimedia/HTPC settings and paths were correct (c:\video\startup.avi). When I launch gameex i get the "please wait" then a blank screen which eventually renders gameex as Not Responding, using task manager to end the app. I used the Vista Codecs instead of the recommended ffdshow codecs to fix my emumovies (which work great now). Do you think this could be the issue? Anyone have any clues? Thanks Dedos (I did search the forum and followed other recommended settings with no luck)
  24. Hello, I Know I'm probably gonna get some heat on this topic but.... I'm using a 25 inch TV with an S-Video converter to AV composite to the TV (Trust me, I've been looking for a 25 inch tv with S-video that does not exceed 25 inches width for my original Mortal Kombat II cabinet). The S video out is on the Video Card (Nvidia 4mx). Obviously in Windows it looks "fuzzy" and sometimes can't make out words. Since Gameex runs with big font, it's easier to look at but yet still a bit fuzzy. Does anyone know of any "secrets" or tips on how to sharpen the TV picture running off a computer? I'm running at 640 x 480 with 16 bit colors. It's starting to agitate me since I vowed not to go back to a 21 inch monitor (19'' viewable). Thanks. Dennis
  25. Hello everyone. I'm running a mame cabinet with a 2.8 GHz proc, 1 gb mem with a 25 inch TV. (I would send a pic but it's still apart). I'm running the registered latest version of gameex with directx 9c and the latest nvidia drivers (93.71) for the Nvidia GForce 4mx. Using Vista codecs on an XP OS. While running gameex, the animated TOP menus slow down (I'm using the standard Mame theme) but when selecting item (up and down) its smooth. Other selections run sluggish as well. I'm not sure if it's my Video drivers or my 25 inch TV since it's connected with a s-video to Video composite adapter but I would rather keep the animation rather than disabling it (cause it's sooo cool). Emumovies run well as well as the mame games. Any ideas? Thank you !!! Dedos.
