Since Brian was makin fun, here is my version of a nullDC-Naomi Wrapper. :P

Features:

  • Gives emulator a Command-line interface to work with GameEX.
  • Changes settings to nullDC.cfg so the user does not need to make any changes. I have made them for you. Since we've all experienced that sometimes nullDC sometimes resets your settings then this will handle making sure it sets the required changes all the time (i.e. Emulator.AutoStart, Emulator.NoConsole, and Fullscreen.Enabled).
  • Hides the OS.
  • Runs emulator fullscreen.
  • Maps {ESC} to exit or of course can have GameEx to exit it as well.

Installer defaults to install into the GameEx\LOADERS directory. This is not required but my personal choice as it keeps all your loaders in one directory. Or you can always install into your nullDC-Emulator directory. The installer includes the wrapper and also process_kill_child.exe which will make sure that the emulator is closed cleanly if the wrapper is forced to close for some reason. This file is not required but I recommend using it. I give credits to Nologic for this concept as it is based off his Kill_Child script.

Command-line settings if installed in loaders directory:

"[APP]\LOADERS\nullDC-Naomi_Wrapper.exe" "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]"

Command-line settings if installed in emulator directory:

nullDC-Naomi_Wrapper.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]"

Set all other settings as usual. Enjoy!

Brian its not personal, just havent had a chance to check either of them. Ideally the main portal should be updated.

Wouldnt want to put another monkey on your back, but if you want admin access to gameex.net id appreciate anything you do.

It's no issue Im teasing anyway. If you like to give me access Id like to update it over the next week or so. Theres a bit that needs updating.

Ideally there should be one wrapper anyways as it does get confusing with too many options.

I would recommed frequency to host the wrapper here instead of mediafire or whatever as those links tend to expire. If/when I do get access I will be sure to upload to your server.

Take care :)

Actually it's a link to my personal account so links won't expire. I only put there as a temp fix till my wiki is ready for release. Once released, all my works will be hosted there. Just didn't wanna load my upload usage here at GameEx with stuff since my wiki will be a place to go for this stuff. I guess I could release soon but will be lacking in areas I'm wanting. Just got the time now to work on this stuff cuz been busy. So again this is only temporary.

I can't get it working but most likley cause I'm a noob at GameEX..

My Details.

Emulator is on E:\ drive.

located e:\emulators\nullDC_103

In Advance settings I have

Rom path

e:\emulators\nullDC_103

Command Line

"[APP]\LOADERS\nullDC-Naomi_Wrapper.exe" "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]"

everything is default.

The Wrapper was extracted / ran in the loaders directory.

I can see the emulator in GameEx, select it, it then sees the one game I have. I select it to run, thinks for a couple of seconds and then throws me back to the select screen..

Post your config. There's no reason it should be causing errors or it shouldn't work unless you're using it wrong. All it does is loads the game based off the information from what you have put into the command-line. Also what do you have as the working directory? Working directory should be pointed to where your emulator is!

Thanks.

IS it important to use the Naomi one or can I use the DC one?

Same issue happened with that wrapper.

But I think I found the problem. It was working if I ran it manually, although it complained about missing a dll, I looked into this and found I needed DX9 installed.

Did this and forgot about testing it again. Weired that a game would load up even not having DX9 installed...

So testing by just opening the NullDC emulator and I select the cdi image, goes to load, can see black dos box, then it quits.

Probably what's happening using the wrapper, but not visible to what was happening.

More research and my Display card is a onboard Intel Extreme 2, not capable of DX9, and from the requirements of NullDC, it needs a display card capable of DX9.... looks like I'll have to invest in this..

Are you sure you're using this for Sega-Naomi Arcade games and not DreamCast games? I ask this cuz you posted that you selected a CDI image which won't work for this emulator. CDI is for only used for DC. And On Board display will NOT handle Naomi or DC. Needs to have a card that supports Shader Model 2... hence DX9 being a requirement. Always test an emulator first to assure it's working. Then run from commandline if you can. If not then that's where these wrappers come in. Glad to know it wasn't the wrapper. :P

Yep, I'm using the DC one!... so two mistakes .

But with testing it was working prior to installing DX9, the DC logo would be black but games loaded up fine. !!!!..

Thanks for you help, at least it's helped with how wrappers work!...

So what ever happen to this?

So far as I know, this happened to that, and that happened to this. So from now on, this is that, and that is this!

Well I like that answer. Should be the answer to lots of questions here in the forums.

Well to be honest, I didn't understand the question...

But I do like my answer better than "I could help you, but you'll be a better person, become wealthy, and girls will want you, if you figure it out yourself" ;)
