I just upped 5.05 and I am pretty sure I've fixed the issues where after exiting attract mode GameEx is closed.

I think the bypass setting should work now.

Can people test for me? It seems to be working for me.

Cheers.

Just fired it up and I noticed right away that after unistalling and reinstalling a new version, the "custominput.ini" file has been either deleted in the uninstall or overwritten in the reinstall. This is a bit annoying. What would happend if I made it write protected? Would that crash the installer?

Edit: Also after a reinstall, I would prefer that the same theme as previous version was used and that the "Advanced graphics" were untouched.

It must have been the uninstall that did it. As the install only creates it if it does not exist. I would have thought if you have changed the file, the unisntall would not have deleted it.

You could try it to find out, I expect it wont crash, as it only creates it if it does not exist.

I've found an uninstall is not even needed for upgrading anyway.

Did you check 'For games usage only?'

I think the thing to do is not uninstall, just install, and dont check the Games usage only on a new install. It really is designed to keep your settings.

I dont understand why this has just happened. From what I understand youve been through a few upgrades?

Sorry for being confusing: I have had to change theme etc for as far as I can remember (i.e. since I started using these functions.) I always install with "Setup for gaming only" or what it's called, because I just want to use it as a MAME frontend for the cab I'm building.

On another note: The mng sound is playing about 1.5 seconds after I've quit GameEx and Windows' visible. I can't recall that it played at all after pressing escape, but it would be a lot nicer with a fade out.

Just dont check "setup for gaming". The install will remember your settings, even if it is setup for games only.

Hi Tom

Just a note to say that v5.05 appears to fix the attract mode issue for me. I had it running overnight no problem. :D

Regarding the playlist pause, it runs for a few seconds overlapping the game audio. I think it would be preferable if the volume ramped down as soon as 'play this game' was selected.

For the record I'm using MAME32FX v0.99 because of the fast load times, I use 'bypass=true' in GameEx and the following MAME options:

MameOptions=-skip_gameinfo -effect sharp -triplebuffer -nowindow -joy -nobackdrop -nobezel -artwork_crop

I run my cabinet using an ArcadeVGA card.

Cheers
