Start messing with nullDC that supports Naomi which is an arcade version of the Dreamcast. Is there anyway so that when I add nullDC (Naomi) I can get it to show up under Mame like Zinc and Model 2 or am I stuck with it showing up under the emulator list for now?

I reckon you have to list it as emulator. besides mame only model 2 and zinc emulators are directly integrated into gameex!

First, are the Naomi games released with the MAME roms? If not, then it becomes more difficult. If so, then probably.

If the roms are released with MAME, then it's simply a matter of getting the game to load in a different emulator. You can use Multi-MAME which allows lots of freedom in configuring the way things load. Alternately, you can modify the MAME_Loader script that I put together. It's pretty basic, but it should work.

If the roms are not included with the MAME set, then it means that MAME won't report info about them. If you want them to show up in your list, you will have to adjust filters in GameEx accordingly. Also, they won't display any information like other titles will (history, control panel info, number of players, etc.). I think the only solution in this case is Multi-MAME. It can set up the emulator to populate the info about the game as if it was included in MAME in the first place. This is very tedious looking to learn, but there is a good set of info at their home page.

Although I think having all arcade games populated in a single list is ideal, I'm not sure it's feasible unless you are willing to invest a significant amount of time to learn Multi-MAME. It's possible the learning curve is steep so it won't take long to get going, but it looked pretty complicated.

As far as I know, Naomi is not part of Mame. Naomi is nullDC and not support under Mame but I could be wrong. With that said, it is an arcade system which is why I want to add it under the Mame list but it will not kill me to have it under the emulators.

yeah nulldc is currently the only emulator to run naomi games... maybe it will be playable in mame one day... but probably you need a 16 core x 10 ghz computer to run it :)

Naomi games DO get packaged with mame. Mame just doesnt emulate them yet.

NullDc in my opnion is a better emulator that Demul... Eg its seems faster.

Also NullDc Naomi Build doesnt support commandline and I havent figured a way to make it work unless I write a script to move the mouse and load the games... Just looks ugly

I toyed around with it. Actually it's not that bad. I used control clicks (don't like using mouse clicks because of different resolutions) and you can hide the window so it will work seamless. Couldn't get much further than that since don't have the roms for it but it's doable.

You mean in Game Ex or in general?

He means it looks ugly loading in GameEx. But, are there any Naomi games that work yet?

I have 3 of them running, zero problems. I know for sure there is one more I can run and I think I few more than that.

I spoke to the programmer last night; he is working on a new version that should be out soon that should support even more games.

Capcom vs Snk 1 and 2 (not the neogeo game that mame already supports)

Guilty gears games (2 of em)

Toy Fighter

Thats what I have running

I got one of the Guilty Gear games running but I know there is another as Brain said, Street Fighter Zero 3 and Marvel vs. SNK 2.

I'm pretty sure Marvel vs. Capcom 2 works but I have yet to try it.

Keep in mind that Naomi Games do look a little bit better than there Dreamcast counter parts, infact GG looks pretty damn good IMO, way better than the DC version. I did a compare with them last night, night and day!!

Yeah Gulty Gear XX looks really good. I just saw it on youtube...

what about integrating nulldc's recent version into gameex. can i still use brians config?

greatflash, you said the new version is slower compared to the old... did you do some more testing? is it much slower?

Emulator? We do not need no stinkin' NAOMI emulator :P Buy the actual hardware, JAMMAfy yourself a controller and run it on your computer monitor :) The hardware is cheaper now. Example my collection minus a motherboard that came in today from repair.

Wheres mine? Surley you wouldnt miss one of those.... Nudge nudge

Umm sorry Brian. Actually I would miss one of them. I like to have a board per cart :P as you can see I'm like 3 short :) Hopefully I'll rectify that soon :) I am also working on a portable solution. Hopefully it'll be done soon, but with my work schedule it's kinda hard :) Hey Tempest I'm up to 6 cabs now. I just popped down to Nashville and picked up a Virtua Tennis Cab in excellent shape for $100.00 (sound familar?) I had the seller yank out the boards only leaving the wires etc intact. I just stuck in one of the GD-ROM systems pictured above and now it's a Virtua Tennis 2 cabinet. My son is happy now I took Virtua Tennis out of the cabinet that houses his favorite game SoulCalibur.

This is kinda funny... I was reading at KLOV, while waiting for this to page to load, (slow connection) and the first post I read over there is you. Did you get that Tapper cab yet? :P

Man you have a nice collection of hardware going there. I watch craigslist in my area, if you want me to keep an eye out for something for you, I will...

Also, I believe that is the first time that you mentioned havind a son. I assume from your comment, that he plays the games with you. I always think it's pretty cool when this hobby spans into the next generation.

Games work good for me, no slow downs.

Can someone help me with a command line please for Game Ex?

Command Line: nullDC-Naomi_1.0.3_mmu.exe -config ImageReader:DefaultImage="[ROMPath]\[RomFile]"

Rom Filter: *.cdi;*.lst

nullDC loads Naomi with ".lst" files and ".bin". They are the only two files need when running each game.

Help please, thanks!

According to Brian, It doesn't support command-line options so you would have to script something up.

Oh yeah, I guess I over looked that. Thanks...

Would anyone care to make a script and would it have to be made per game or???

No. Only one script would be needed. How to go about making it would depend on the way the games are (i.e. in same folder, subfolders, if their compressed, not compressed, etc. I don't really care to make it cuz don't have the games to test it on but will do it when I get some. Or can always ask questions on how to code it and some of us can help. I know there's a few of us here that know how to script wrappers using AutoHotKey and AutoIt. Also a few knowledgeable programmers here to give some pointers. I did look into it when Brian mentioned it and it seems fairly easy to code up but again can't test without the games. :(
