Hi

Well I rode the v5.00 -> v5.03 wave this morning and came out pretty unscathed ;) with a very solid install on my arcade cabinet (which I have been rebuilding).

Just a couple of observations:

- escape key not disabled during attract mode causing GameEx to exit (although set in the config).

- Jukebox audio is not pausing correctly when playing a game. Volume fades but not to silence.

Other than that, a fine release from what I've seen. Thanks Tom!

Cheers

Thanks for reporting Julian. Both should be fixed in 5.04. Upping it now.

Can you please tell me though what version of MAME you are using, and are you using the Bypass disclaimer setting?

Damn that was fast Tom - it's like having my own personal developer.

I upgraded to 99u7 to keep in step with you & removed the 'skip disclaimer' and 'skip info' switches from the command line. I read somewhere that these cause problems in the latest MAME versions. I can confirm that the games fire up cleanly (or the 20 or so I've checked so far).

I'm just about to download v5.04 and will take it through its paces.

See post about 99u7. GameEx has a lot of issues with it such as random exits.

Hi Tom

I loaded up v5.04 and the playlist audio fade seems to be working fine.

However the return from attract mode is failing most of the time with GameEx quitting to the desktop with no log info after the mame command line. I have reverted to the prime .99 build as you advised but with no improvement. I also reverted back to GameEx v5.03 which suffers less but it's still there. Both versions fail in attract mode when either a key is pressed or the timeout occurs (on average after 1-2 game changes).

Let me know if I can help further with the debug.

Cheers

I think its the bypass disclaimer setting that's causing this, as reported yesterday. Have you got it turned on?

I'm guessing the "Bypass disclaimer" setting is just sending a lots of "O"s and "K"s to MAME, right? Is there a timer that tells the command to stop? Because I entered the MAME GUI and as my select button is set to "O", things got ugly.

Any chance you could set a timer to for how long this goes on so it's "safe" time to enter the GUI after say... I dunno, 5 or 10 seconds?

It is already on a timer, about 10 seconds.

That's odd. Perhaps I was way quicker than I thought.

It mioght be closer to 15-20 seconds. As there is another wait before GameEx starts sending the keys. Perhaps its too long at the moment, I just wanted to make sure I give MAME a chance to load up as if its validting big ROMS it can take a while.

Too bad the "Disclaimer skipping" can't be triggered to start only after the game is loaded. Or can it?
