Gameex Snaps feature for MAME

Hello all, I've been having some issues involving the snaps for Mame. I have the snap folder set up, the snap feature enabled, and the snaps ready to go. The problem is, is that I can create and display snaps for all my emulated games except for MAME. I have tried adjusting the settings and enabled the create snaps option, so far nothing. Before you tell me to enable the snaps in the settings in the Advanced Configuration menu or tell me to verify the snaps are correctly placed, I have already done that. The snaps creation tab is missing from the MAME menu in Gammex and I have it enabled in the Gameex configuration setting.

I have created snaps in Gameex before and been able to display them so I know this isn't rocket science. It wasn't until a recent update that I have lost the ability to access the create snaps bar and display them for MAME. Any thoughts?

Hi. there is not a create snaps options for MAME, there never has been. There is a create mame videos start menu item, but it does not work with the latest versions of MAME. Snaps for MAME are widely available for download, there even hosted on the gameex web site.

I knew about the snaps that you guys have provided, I use those for almost all my games. So how can I get the snaps I've already downloaded displayed for Mame in Gameex?

Just extract the archive to a folder within your mame install, and point to that in the configuration.

If there's a snap you don't like for whatever reason, you can either find a different set (I think there are at least 3 main ones in common distro), or you can use the F12 button to perform a screen capture.

the F12 may only work if you have a keyboard with the F-Keys option

you may actually press the Print Screen key on your keyboard and then go in to paint to paste the clipboard contents of the screen capture you took.

For MAME place all your snapshots in the MAME snaps directory then in gameEX MAME configuration you have to point to that directory as well.

stuff you might already know but worth checking

Are you using the GUI version of MAME? if so do your snapshots show up there? (once the directory has been configured in the GUI version of MAME)

True, you could do it with print screen too. Remember though, if you do that, you have to have a keyboard installed to do the alt-tab and file name. It seems like more work than needed. I thought screen shots were setup by default though. So, if not, then it might be a bit of work there anyway.
