custom vertical bezel wont work

I've searched the forums and faqs/tutorials for an answer to my question, but I cannot seem to find anyone else with a similar problem.

I'm trying to run a custom bezel that I made in photoshop when I play vertical games in MAME. I've got the bezel setting turned on, and I replaced the old mame.png and left the old mask.png file alone since it didn't need to be changed, yet everytime I play a vertical game, the same old MAME/GameEx logos appear as the bezel. I don't understand where the image is coming from, seeing as how the old file is completely gone at this point. Can anyone help me out?

Look for this in your gameex.ini

BezelVersion=2

Try changing it to 1 or visaversa..

If its a custiom one gameex may not be detecting it correctly.
