well, i saw a post for a similar problem, i read it, and there was nothing that helped me. what im experiencing is when i choose a game to play (no matter the games, and YES the roms ARE there!) it goes to a black screen, then back to gameex screen, the one that says "play game" etc.

now, i had it working, before i had to reformat, with the same files that i backed up. i actually got the files from a buddy who made a cabinet for another one of our friends, so i know they are reliable, as his works fine. im just wondering if theres anything else that i can try to troubleshoot this.....everything is in place, as it was when i had it working before.

thanks for all of your help ahead of time...

anything?

This is happening because MAME is not running the rom for whatever reason. It could be due to a video mode setting or an invalid rom. The best bet is to run a game that fails from GameEx, then quit and run the "Run Last Game.bat" file to see what the actual error was. You may need to edit the file to add "PAUSE" at the end to see the error.

no idea what you mean by post your log...

and also, i think it may have something to do with the video as you said.....everything worked before and the roms are FOR SURE there.

Your LOG can be found in C:\Program Files\GameEx\LOG

Post it here.

Also RightClick and EDIT the runitgame.bat and post the contest here via copy and paste.

That is command Gameex is using to launch mame. IT can be found here C:\Program Files\GameEx\DATA

Just because you have a rom by the correct name doesn't necessarily mean that you will be able to use it. If the rom is really old (for instance), there might be a new dump which will supercede the one you have on a current version of MAME. I would lean towards other problems though, as most roms have not been redumped...

alright, ill have to post it a bit later.....im at work.

but what im going to do it try and load the files onto my laptop and see if the roms run. ill let you guys know. if they do, then we know its something involving the video on the actual pc i got for MAME.

okay, so i installed it on my laptop, works flawlessly........so what the -Cream filled twinkie-.

im guessing it DOES have to do with my pcs video card or something....i got a real shitty get my by to put in it, and now im going to install my good ati raedon x700 deluxe and let you dudes know what the deal is. i appreciate all of your help so far with my situation.

any other thoughts other than video card that could be the issue? its for sure has to deal with video though...no doubt in my mind.

We'd need to see the logs and runitgame.bat to get any more ideas.

Could be a pathing issue. You could run the command outside gameex (from the bat)

To see if there are any errors.
