Intro Videos not working

I updated GAMEEX a few weeks ago and it has stopped my intro movies working.

I thought it was a tempary think but after a few more updates they are still not playing brfore GAMES starts...

Anyone know why?

I never understand why everyhing has to be because of a gameex update and not something else that happened, but post your log, and let us know if you did anything else like install new codecs, or move hard disks/files.

It doesn't look like it's trying to play the video (as you said). Did you verify that the video is still in your gameex.ini file? I don't know why it would be gone if you put it in there, but some people have been experiencing problems with emulator settings being altered. Is it possible this could be a related problem? Just a thought...

Its not even trying to play a video, which means GameEx cant find the path. Check the path to the video file or folder containing videos is correct.

So it looks like GameEx isn't finding a video in the "C:\GameEx\Vids" directory that is in a format it can handle.

The vids are in D:\GameEx\Vids directory where GAMEEX is installed not C:\GameEx\Vids

but the thing is was was working fine at one point.... ahhhh I dont get it

Can you play those videos through GameEx in the media player/jukebox thing?

Just to clarify what I was saying, for some reason it looks like GameEx cant even find the path. there should be a log entry saying "Playing startup video on thread". This is put into the log as soon as gameex either finds the filename or folder, before it even attempts to play a video. What I was trying to say its not even getting that far, so not even trying to play a video. For some reason it thinks that path does not exist. Although not sure why.

Take a screenshot of your D:\GameEx\Vids folder in Windows Explorer and post it here (Alt-PrtScn then paste into Paint). It might give us a clue *shrugs*

What config app are you using? Setup Wizard or Advanced Config? I know sometimes the path will read

D:\GameEx\Vids D:\GameEx\Vids if you click on it twice.

The double listing is probably intensional. In some cases, you can have multiple directories for your content, so listing it twice would be the expected result.

Your log says that you are using the killer instinct theme...

If so, delete the following line from the killer instinct 'theme.ini' file:

StartupVideo=C:\Program Files\GameEx\THEMES\Default - Killer Instinct

Did this fix it?

While I am at it Headkaze - how easy is it to run that program that removes the MAME Rom loading in screen.

If its easy I will give it a shot - as I am not good at that kind of stuff
