I set up mame32 with its own GUI then when GameEx launches the commandline side of it the settings are not applied. What is the reason and is there a fix?

I don't use MAMEUI, I use a custom compiled version of vanilla MAME. However, it shouldn't make a difference in your problem. The way it *should* work is that any command you put on the command line *should* override any other setting from the ini files. The best way to figure out what you are actually telling MAME to do is to look at the "Run Last Game.bat" file from the GameEx start menu.

I removed all command line extras. so I think it should use the .ini setting from the GUI but it does not seem to..

It will loose the joy/mouse settings and ignore the res. settings.

I had a similar problem. I have multiple versions of mame. Make sure you are pointed to the correct one.

I like using mameui because I can configure it from the gui and not have to pass and cmd line arguments.
