Whats the options to enable/disable to run just one Emulator within GameEx.

I would like to setup different config files (which I have done) but only have the Emulator Name showing on the start page (along with search, exit, etc)

I just need to tweak the config files to remove all unwanted items - just MAME left on there - so how do I disable MAME in GameEx and make sure that Emulator #1 is the only think showing on the Start Page.

Thanks.

well,

as far as i know you can't disable all items on the start page. but most of them... go through your gameex setup and disable all emulators except the one you like.

go to the configuration utility that you launch from inside gameex, go to text/language, change language to custom and rename the items that should get other names

that changes the text but doesn't remove the menu items being displayed.

How do I disable MAME and make sure the Emulator #1 is on the Start Page as the only menu item (rather thasn going through GAMES & EMULATORS / Emulator #1)

Thanks.

Use flat menus

Enable start page

disable mame

Search for those 3 items in the setup wizard.

thanks, found em and that worked for the MAME stuff. Although my emulator now doesn't show MAME or my emulatror on the start page?

And I am using two different config files which basically change the theme used (one theme for MAME, other for emulator) - ith different start pages, backgrounds, etc.. but my MAME one shows the emulator background even though it isn't in the THEME folder.

Any idea's?

This is what is happening - I have tried two different methods..

If I link it to EMULATOR 1 then it only displays the games without a Start Page that shows LAST PLAYED, RANDOM and EXIT.

If I remove the link and have it under EMULATOR 1, it displays LAST PLAYED, RANDOM and EXIT on the Start Page but no menu item to go into the Emulator Games List?

Any suggestions please.

Many Thanks.

UPDATE:

GAMES now appears on the Start Page - but how do I make this appear at the Top of the Start Page List, above LAST PLAYED, etc etc

Also how do you change the icon for the GAMES button?

in the themes folder under gameex you will find the theme you selected (eg media center). if you click on this folder you fill find another named logos

in the emulator options there is also a line for logos. just enter the name of the logo in there that you saw in the logos folder. eg snes.pgn => snes in logos menu

click on the help button next to the logo line for further info

ok thanks but that does not give me the ideal results..

If I fix to Emulator 1 it only shows list of games.

If I do not fix to Emulator 1 it gives me the Start Page as I would like it apart from the GAMES (for Emulators which I can relabel later) is 3rd on the list - I would like to place GAMES at the top and SEARCH, MOST PLAYED, etc below it on the Start Page.

So my question would be is there a way to change the order of the Start Page menu items please? (Like MAME is at top)

UPDATE:

Also is there a way to remove the Title, Cart, Controls, Instructions options in the Game Info Page?

I do not believe that you will find what you seek. (I'm feeling philosophical this morning ;) )

so the menu item order can not be changed?

and I won't be able to remove the Title, Carts, etc options under the Game Info page?

Dude - I already mis-lead you once! :(

You can't do it in Gameex directly...

You may be able to edit your theme in the theme editor to do it, I don't know for sure, because I haven't done it.

Not really... apart from flat menus and game launcher mode etc...

There comes a point where gameex is kinda fixed a certain way and that about it.

You can get rid of carts and titles if you don't set a path for them.

Actually that didn't work - I removed the path but it still shows the titles on the Game Info page.

done it. although it seems that if you edit a different config file it doesn't actually save it??weird

so i edited the gameex and renamed it.

One last thing guys - How do I add Favourites - I have it enabled and go into the Game Info and select ADD TO FAVOURITES but it does not appear on the STart page? Is MAME the only one that can enabled Favourites?

anyone got an answer for this problem please? (Adding Favourites on other games)

I'm eager to complete my setup.

I was trying not to give you any more bad advice...The beauty of me replying is that it will spur other people on if I'm wrong.

Without changing my setup and verifying that you can do what you want...

"Favorites" in Gameex covers all emulators. So if you say "add to favorites" in any emulator, it will add the game to your favorites list. It's not just for Mame. I have mine setup to not put Mame on the start page, but favorites shows up on the start page anyway...

I would assume that if you enable "Show Favorites", that it will show on your start page, and will work the way you are wanting it to.

There's an enable favorites option in the "enable/disable features" part of the setup.

What you are doing *should* add the game to your favorites list. The only question I have is whether you are using a different config file (not GameEx.ini)? If so, perhaps there is a problem with adding games to favorites via alternate configs. Tom will probably need to take a look at this to get it straightened out. I suggest you post a log file of you adding a game to the favorites (I don't know if it puts anything in there or not, but it can't hurt), and your GameEx.ini (or whichever config you are working with).

If you .zip your Gameex.ini (or whatever the name of the .ini file you are working on) and upload it, I'd be happy to give it a try...

any suggestions? Are there other options that enable/disable this as well, like Flat Menus, etc etc

I can not load the Theme into the Theme Editor as it states it is an old version (v1 Theme). Any suggestions on how to convert the Theme to v2 as well please?

I messed around with your Gameex.ini..

I can make the menu look like this:

Last played

Games

Search

Exit

Or I can make it look like this:

Mame Games

Last Played

Games

Favorites

Search

Exit

I know that you didn't want mame to show, but apparently you do have to have Mame enabled to have favorites show. I think this is very odd, because as I said before, Favorites covers all emulators. I would think a feature request is in order to make this work the way you want it to, personally I think it should be made to work that way.

I'm sure you know, that all of the text above can be altered. I don't think you would want to, but you could change "Mame Games" to " " (a single space), So it wouldn't show, but people would still be able to navigate to it. I'm not a programmer, but maybe somebody else would have an idea about how to make it so that nothing happens if someone were to select the Blank mame item.

So far as how to convert V1 to V2 themes, Check this thread:

http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=3921

Edit: I didn't upload the Gameex.ini

If you want me to upload one or the other, let me know.
