Just uploaded a new theme that I have been working on for far far too long.

The theme is Only for high resolution (1920x1200) and has a large preview area. As such, this theme is best suited to a desktop system of a high-ish spec.

The theme contains many new icons for games systems (any more required - pm me), and lots of new ones for general GameEx icons. Ie. Search, News, Jukebox, etc.

Have posted a few screens so you can look first as the download is a bit on the BIG side. Sorry!

Any suggestions are always appreciated! :)

Sweet! Thanks for sharing :)

I thought it was worth posting as there were none at this resolution :) Also, the icons contained within may be of use to others building themes..

Quite disapointed - I was really expecting a mashing from Asteroid, sorry - i mean Tempest :)

There's nothing wrong with Asteroids, if your into 2D Black & white Games...

Pong is another good one two. ;)

Some vector games had green backgrounds...

Asteroids deluxe had an image as a background..

God - you will be telling me King Kong was a bit poo because it was black & white!

Let's not confuse the issue, we are talking about Asteroids, not Asteroids deluxe....

The reason that Atari never came out with "Tempest Deluxe", is because they got it right the first time! ;)

So far as the vector games with green backgrounds go, next thing you'll be telling me is that Starcastle was a defining moment in video game history, because the glass was tinted different colors! :lol:

It's brand new so Tom or Night might not have added it to the themes site yet.

Nice lookin theme GF!

It will look nice on the laptop. On the cab tho, it's Valhalla all the way. (No HD display there anyhow!) :)

It's good to see people are making hi-res themes for GameEx. Now I can put my HDTV to good use :D

I really like the icons that you're using. Very good, hi-res, accurate representations.

One thing that really sticks out in my mind is the nice conjoining of the two content boxes. That's an idea I wish I honestly thought of. Good design technique.

It really has a military or industrial look. Whether or not that's what you were aiming at, i'm not sure, but it still looks good.

I was aiming for a clean, uncluttered area. Used a sample of the texture on a zx spectrum for the stippled background :)

I am glad you like it. Feel free to re-use any icons or parts if you wish.

I am thinking of re-doing all the backgrounds with a subtle steam-punk look, brass screws on corners and leather back areas/panels etc, as ypu can probably tell, spent a LOT more time replacing all the icons (was particually pleased with to opening invader screen). All icons are 700x700 to enable rescaling to smaller screen displays at some stage!

Looking forward to your theme.

I just wanted to thank you for posting this theme. I use GameEx on my HD TV as well and this theme is perfect for it. Looks great in 1080p and just a nice job all around. Thanks!

Thanks for posting your comments, it is always nice to hear if someone is using the theme. The idea was to keep it fairly clean for just such a useage.

Look out for the steampunk inspired V3 theme I started working one over the weekend. Will be a little while yet though (same hi-res) :)

I'm liking this theme so far. There is one thing missing though. Those little arrows that you can click with the mouse to move through the lists quicker. It takes forever using the joystick to scroll through all the mame games. Is there anyway to add those?

You can use the alpha/paging button to scroll through lists by page or starting letter. If you do that, then it only take ~27 clicks (or holding the joystick down) to get to the bottom of the MAME list.

I believe it is the second button on your joypad. enable joypad navigation in gameex then holding the button, up/down moves a page at a time and left/right move up and down the alphabet.

Also, pressing a letter on the keyboard will jump to that letter in your rom list.

You can also use ctrl and the cursor keys to do the same as the joystick button!

Hope that helps and sorry for removing the navigation arrows from the theme. If you get used to this method, then I am confident you will prefer it!

Very early days yet! Just toying with the V3 themes at the mo. Looking to do a damaged leather, wood and rivet type affair.. (Test pic upped). Until we have full control of the skins (V4 themes Tom hopes) then I will just keep working on different graphics in readyness.

Glad you like the theme and hope you get on ok with alpha paging :) (it is much quicker than the little arrows)
