Quick Question Attract Mode

Hi, I was just wondering if Attract mode/screensaver is really the mame screensaver integrated with GameEx. For some reason Attract mode won't start when I click start in GameEx (it just hangs and needs to be force quit) and it won't run as a regular screen saver after x minutes. I have the mame screensaver but if I use that as my windows screensaver and GameEx is open a black screen pops up and then just crashes back to GameEx.

I haven't been using the screensaver, but I will try to help....

The screensaver in Gameex is not the same as mame screensaver. The Gameex one actually starts a game, and you can watch its "attract" mode.

Questions:

What do you mean when you say it hangs? Does it ever make it out of Gameex?

Does the log show an error?

Do you have other emulators besides Mame enabled in the screen saver?

Regarding the last question, every emulator has a tab in its setup to allow it to be included in the screen saver or not. If you don't have an error in the log that's helpful, you might want to try turning them off, to see if it fixes the problem.

Ok, so I tested the attract mode after turning off every emulator other than mame and it still never starts. Only a black screen loads. I checked the log and everything seems fine it ends with "starting attract mode" and then just freezes so it shows no error message.

So I saw someone said they had to disable xvid before it would run....That seems to at least get the screensaver running. I'll test it but I think I am ok now.

I've also recently had the exact same problem you describe with the screensaver when I try to get it to include videos. If I disable the "play videos too" or "also play videos" (forget the exact wording) option and just use MAME it works fine.

Incidentally all the videos in the particular folder I pointed the screensaver at work fine if I play them the normal way through GameEx.
