Now my new arcade machine I just got today has a 33in medium res monitor and I love it!

I'm glad you recieved that cabinet I custom built for you!

I hope they didn't scratch it in transit, I padded it the best I could, but you know how they can be...

Anyway, I'm glad you love it, and I want you to know that I enjoyed working with you on this project.

When can I expect payment?

Anyone have any other specs that they would like to share?

So Intels are a little better compared to AMDs because of the FSB speeds? Will it really matter that much? Not sure.

Now, me personally, I'm not going to use this computer for anything other than playing Mame or other Emulators. So minimum/minimal is good.

I got lucky and got it for $400.00. Where can you get a tri-sync arcade monitor for $400.00 with shipping included? I'd like one for my Blitz 99. The cheapest I found was from Happs. I'm afraid that doesn't include shipping

Yeah, I thought those were pretty expensive.

My monitor is a 27" Betson Imperial which is going for $469 right now. 27" Betson Imperial Monitor

I bought 3 at once and was able to negotiate $395 apiece + shipping which was about $50 apiece. The sales rep was super friendly, helpful and willing to deal on the monitor once I told her I was looking at competitors. Shipping would depend on whether it's home delivery or not and distance from Chicago. I happen to have a loading dock at work which is a little cheaper for delivery and am 1 state away. The monitors are great, haven't had any problems and I can highly recommend them in unison with ArcadeVGA cards. Reps name and number are below. Tell her you know someone who bought them for $395 and maybe she'll cut you a deal to defer shipping cost.

The other tip I'd have (unless you're really set on building something) is to check the Dell Outlet site. I was able to get my Inspiron 531's AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core 4000+ (2.10GHZ) with Vista, 250Gb drives and 1Gb RAM for $249. You can save some money building your own but not much. You can get them with Intel processors or XP also. For a quick, cheap MAME machine these are great. Another nice little benefit is the 7 USB ports which you'll end up using quickly.

Well,

That all depends on what you want to play. If you aren't worried about things like NFL Blitz, Mace and the like by all means get a AMD. But if you want to play those games and not have them sound like you are listening to chopped & screwed music you need a CoreDuo, 64bit operating system, decent cooling & overclocking. Hope I helped.

Sounds to me like the emulation of those Seattle games is just now becoming possible with consumer level computers. If that's true, then currently the only option is the cutting edge (which is currently held by Intel). Given a few months, you will be able to afford the same computing power from Intel OR AMD. Next year, it will be the standard. That's good news, but it's possible that the MAMEdevs might improve/optimise the code now that it can be run and make it work on more moderate machines. Either way, it really depends on what you enjoy playing (like you said)...
