A list of things I need help tweaking (if possible) - Brian this is in addition to the other list I gave you. :)

I looked but couldn't find a way to do the following:

  1. Raine 32 1.0.3 when it starts, it shows some stuff about CPU reset. Can it be turned off?
  2. Znes 1.43 Starting a game shows rom info. Can it be turned off?
  3. Nebula 2.25b Shows rom info on start up. Can it be turned off?

Maybe there's a way to show an alternate screen for a few seconds to hide everthing until ready to play?

Do Raine and Nebula really perform significantly better than MAME?

Yeah, I've always wondered if there was a compelling reason to use either?

I downloaded Nebula a while back, but when I went to configure it, I gave up. It's setup is more complicated than zinc from what I saw and since there weren't that many games there, I figured why bother when they play ok in MAME.

I was looking for a site (unmamed, nonmamed) that had a list of emulators that played the same games as mame, but better. The guy had a list of different emulators, and the games that he had tested (I guess) that ran better in those emulators than they did in mame. Now I can't find it.....ring any bells?

I took another look at Nebula, it doesn't look hard to set up. You have to have a game selected to configure controls, you might have missed that, otherwise it doesn't look too bad. I would be happy to upload my nebula.ini, and export my gx config if you want it.

I found this: http://unmamed.mame.net/

If this is the site I was thinking of, then it has changed alot...They are showing 16 games in nebula that mame doesn't have, and none for Raine. Mame has added alot of games in the past months...

Look at the bottom of the page for emulators.

Interesting. Thanks for the site! It looks to me like unless you want to get some imported racing games (ridge racer, rave racer, etc), you really do get the vast majority of games via MAME, Zinc, and Model 2. I may see about Nebula, but it looks to be a PITA!

Tempest,

For ZSNES, upgrade to 1.51 and it has that option in the options menu. Just need to untick show rom info.

Looking into the other 2 for ya. ;)

For Raine use switch -n switch for nogui and it won't show.

Ok only one more. LOL.

I have a better question Tempest what OS are you running? Nebula always crashed on me on XP. However I haven't tried it in vista yet. Does it run ok for you? I was one of the unfortunate lot that Raine wouldn't run with sound for. Pity I used like raine back when it did the emu DX stuff. Oh and by the way is my upright JAMMA cab done yet? :P

I am running XP pro SP2. Nebula 2.25b

I have uploaded my Nebula.ini, and Config folder (contains game configs) these go in your Nebula folder

The file called GX-Nebula, is my exported Nebula config

I included my Nebula.png if you want to use it.

There is a Nebula guide at Easyemu: http://www.mameworld.net/easyemu/nebulaguide.htm

And for sure I will be willing to help all I can, Lord knows I owe you guys one ot two!

I looked at the guide, I didn't realize before that there was extra work to getting the NEO GEO cd games going, so I haven't worked with that yet. I always just "borrow" roms from my Mame set to build a set for these oddball emulators into their own folder.

I would try to not use my game configs, I'm sure the mappings won't work for you. I included them in case there are other game by game settings, I can't remember for sure....If there are then you could use them, and then do your own mappings.

When you first start Nebula, don't choose a game...click on controls to set up your menu (interface) keys. Then choose a game, and it will change to player controls. There is a save as default button at the bottom. (That is what Winterblasts plugin is missing...And yes, I know I just changed the subject to Zinc ;) )

Looking forward to helping if I can....

Tempest,

I appreciate the help on this but it is kinda hard to get around Nebula has encountered an error and needs to close etc etc etc. I was trying to use it for NeoGeo CD. But I use NeoRaine for that now. By the way if I can get this monitor the cab will have to accomodate a 36in monitor. ;)
