I wanted to update you all as soon as I could, but could not do so until this point.

Google Inc contacted me in December last year about a possible purchase of my company Spesoft and all assets (including GameEx).

I have been in the states for the last month meeting with some of their senior people, and I can confirm that sale has now been agreed.

Ther'll be no immediate changes but no further updates of GameEx while the product is being transitioned.

Things will become a lot more formal and there will be a more official news release, but I wanted to post this informally as we are such a close knit community here.

Youve all brought me a lot of joy, and this is not the end but a new beginning.

Ther'll be formal announcments shortly, but I felt I owed it to you for you to here from me on a personal level.

Thanks GameEx community.

Today is a special day.

Tom

Today is indeed a special day. To be honest, this rumor has been discussed extensively in the States but only in certain circles. One thing that was confirmed that all registered users will become shareholders of Google. I realize that you can't say anything, but I heard that from a friend at a firm who works in Mergers and Acquisitions.

I know we get 100 shares of Google. Can you say how quickly we will get them? I'm going to Vegas with my free money!

Let's see, Google is at $440.00 today, X100 = $44000.00 for a $20.00 investment not bad...

I'll sell my shares to anybody today only for $22000.00 (you can double your money) ;)

Wow ! I'm speechless. In the future will you be the only individual developing GameEX or will there a development team and will you have full control over where (like what new features) GameEx is going ? Just curious.

Thanks,

ian.

It's not a joke and I don't appreciate you calling Tom a liar.

That's just mean and uncalled for. It makes me sad, very sad.

O_O Funny thing is Tom was in the US recently and wouldn't tell me why he was over there... so maybe just maybe... But would Google really purchase software written in a language developed by Microsoft? First thing they would do is port it to C++ and change the default theme :D

Next they will buy out Mame... hmm wonder how that would go down.. Although I thought Aaron worked for Microsft, on his website his last entry under history is "The Microsoft Era (2003-present)". So would that be a conflict of interest? Incidently Aaron used to work at LucasArts porting some of their cool adventure games to the Mac!

Wish I could play along but I just wish it was true so Tom can get me a job there so I can re-write the Setup Wizard and Theme Editor (and get paid lots of $$$ and hang on campus eating free food all day).

Damn it Tom, damn you to hell!!!

P.S My e-mail to send my shares is ... :P

Oh well :) It was at least better than the one I saw on the news this morning about a tasmanian devil named Burt or something like that. lol.

Actually you had me going for a sec beause when I spoke to you that day you were in the US and I even joked about Google buying you out on several occations. Not a bad one really.. if I didn't know it was April 1 you might have got me if I was the first to read the post. Brilliant really ;)

Actually I have an interesting story about Google. A few years ago I sent them my Resume (yeah right like I would get a job there) anyway I had a list of unimpressive things I had created. One of them was SigScribble which was a signature to put under your forum posts where people could write stuff on. Turned out to be a bad idea because people would draw dicks and write rude words all the time lol. Anyway a few weeks after sending them my Resume I checked my SigScribble page and guess what was written on it? "Google" with each letter done with a different color like their real logo. Spooky eh, but I thought that was pretty cool if it was an employee of Google checking it out.

Anyway I think the best thing about working for Google would be chatting up "Google chicks" :P

Thats because you dont get British humor :P

Maybe not, But I do understand sarcasm, and if I say it in my head with a sarcastic "Spin", it all makes sense!

In addition to an "evil" smiley We need a "sarcastic" one!

Nice try there, Tom! Sadly, I am all about April 1st humor and saw through this right away. Try posting a day earlier next year and you may catch me off-guard. ;)

Emmm , I did not understand if the news is a joke or not
