I've set up my config based on those listed on the forums (and verified as correct).

GameEX sees all my gen files but when I try to open any, the screen goes blank for a second, then reverts back to GameEX menu.

Can anyone help or point me to a past post that explains how to set Gens up in GameEX.

Thanks.

Thanks for that. But I really don't want to be changing emu's at this stage. I would much rather just get GENS working.

OK:

The games now load but all I get is a black screen. I can hear the game in the background though.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Yeah. You're using the wrong build of Gens. I was using the wrong build of ZSNES and it kept failing on me, over and over. I downloaded the latest version from zsnes.com and that fixed my problem. (GameEx automatically downloaded the older version...)

So, if you haven't already, switch. You won't get a nosebleed, I promise. FWIW it's really easy to use Fusion. It took me literally 2 minutes to get it to work with GameEx.

If you INSIST on keeping the same emulator, I recommend making sure your settings in Gens ensure that the emulator loads in fullscreen mode.

Switched to Fusion. Works like a dream now! Wooohooo

Anyone know how to have the facility to search for games based on:

Platform

Shooter

Soccer

etc etc

?????????????

If you select the correct database during setup, this information will be available to you. If you are registered, you can also use the search feature that Tom just released to do a keyword search.

I thought you were not interested in changing your emu? anyways you should have set show desktop to yes.. Then you would see the emu instead of just hearing it. It probably wasnt launching fullscreen.

anyways yes you need to use the supplied DB's for the categorys to work etc...

Sometimes, people won't do something unless they're assured as to how easy it is.

I Was just givin him a hard time. I use both fusion and Gens in my config.. I like gens better for 32x,segacd,genesis. I use fusion for mastersystem, sega 1000, Gamegear... I think.

We got lots of support here. There isnt alot you cant get running :)

Is this Feature in Gens or GameEx with the desktop?

It's a Gameex feature, in "advanced configuration" got to the emulator you want to change (in this case Gens), and Look for "database" I think it's on the 3rd, or 4th page. Pick your emulator from the drop down list.

Correction: You pick the system from the dropdown, not the emulator. In your case, pick [Console] Genesis (or is it [Console] Sega Genesis...). The ones with bracketed text are newer and much better.

That's what I meant...sorry! :( Thanks BK!
