Noob Jukebox Question

I am trying to get the Jukebox to recognize all of my music from an external hard drive. Does the jukebox only scan internal drives for music or is there a way to map it to my external drive. The jukebox currently says that I have no music files. I don't have any music on my internal hard drive but have a ton on the external. Is there a way to manually tell the jukebox to update the list of music or is it supposed to do this automatically. I have it set to read the file tags rather than using the media player. I'm sure these are some basic questions, but any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
