this is the problem:-

pkunzip works alone, but if used within a batch file then it fails. Bat.cmd contains just one command pkunzip "%1", this should unzip the file parsed in execution. it strips characters after a space quotes or not!!!..

so, mr Hoff :) There is an inherant dos problem!

Posted

hold on - found a problem, pkunzip does not suport long files from dos..

Got spaces working now though!!

Posted

The config has been posted to the user config sticky

It now supports long filenames and spaces.. So all should run

It only supports single disk games for obvious reasons and will run the first image.

All extracted files are cleared up on exit

File formats supported in zips are t64, d64, and p00

What other formats should be supported??

Hi Greatflash , I have give it up to setup my C64 in gameex :-( , since I read your Posts , now it works with your help. :-)

nice work, I got it running with your Config. I use the Gamebase C64 Collection V3 with about 17.000 Games.

To your question, which formats should supported also ?

I think it would be nice and useful to support card images ( .crt ) and tape Images ( .tap ) , because the Gamebase C64 Collection V3 contains so many nice Original Tape Files, and Original Cartridges. I love this old stuff :-)

When I point to my tape File or Card file Direktory, gameex won´t start the game with your config at this time.

At this time your config, and the given runzip.cmd and unzip32 only supports T.64, D.64 right ?

Many Greets , Denoiser

The file has been updated to support crt and tap files..

Hope all works ok..

Remember, all this was your fault as you started this damn topic :) :)

a fine update, it works with all my tapes and Cartridges thank you very much. I often wondered that I´ve been the first who started a thread about Setting up this cool machine but I think many users love the great old C 64 and are very thankfully for your great work.

I think another problem of using Ccs 64, caused by gameex, is the Esc Button on the Keyboard. Gamex use the ESC Button to end the emulation and go back to the Gameex Menü. Ccs uses exactly the same Button to simulate the run/stop Button on a C64 Keyboard.

When you try to play a game, and must hit the Esc Button, to start the game , the Emulation end and you will return to gameex . Maybe the Author Tom Speirs knows how to handle this.

btw, Your Script works fine and makes all the C 64 Freaks all over the world happy.

I haven't done this, but here is a thread that may help:

http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=673

I think the two things you need to do are:

1. Map keys = true

2. Use a emulator config file.. in this example configfile = u64

Set up your configfile as necessary....

What i do is modify the key binding in CCS to map RUN-STOP to the pc's TAB key. I have yet to find anything that really needs to use the tab key on the c64. you could also use ` (the one next to 1) but TAB is fairly close to where RUN-STOP was on the humble C64 and seems to work well!

Easiest way is to open C64.cfg in notepad (right-click, open with..)

scroll down to a bit that looks like this

...

$KEYMAP000e=00

$KEYMAP000f=72

$KEYMAP0010=76

...

ok

$KEYMAP000e=00

$KEYMAP000f=72 = This is the important bit

$KEYMAP0010=76

Just change the 72 to 77

TAB will now be RUN-STOP on the C64

hope that helps to make C64 even more enjoyable :)

Next thing i think is to do Vic-20 under Vice.. That would be nice.. And the PET perhaps..

The Vic 20 ? What a dream. It was my first Computer with lots of Cartridges and the damn datasette with all the horrible " load error messages " :P

I´m waiting patiently for this script. I have tried to set up Win Vice 1.21 in Gameex with the Gameex Included Vic 20 Config , and nothing works. I love this machine too, more than all the actually PC Games and Console Games.

You see, I´m a real child of the golden 80´s

Supposedly Vice already does unzipping for you. Haven't tried myself yet. Also why not use Vice instead of CCS out of curiosity?

The Vic 20 needs to support lots of file formats like .d64 , .t64 , .g64 , .g41 , .Tap , .Crt , .P00 , .Prg , .A0

I got lots of roms for the VIC 20 and I think this should be all the formats known by Win Vice .

Good Luck for your work ;)

Vice does support zip files - but not from GameEx unless the file within the zip perfectly matches the zip file name, to the best of my knowledge. All I know is that i have tried Vice before and it has the same problem that CCS has when running a zip from gameex. Zip support fails on both :( This is not really a problem as a modified version of the com file will work fine (I hope)

Regarding CCS Vs Vice. CCS is a MUCH better emulator for the running of C64 games. It supports many more of the programming tricks faultlessly. I.E. Dysp, border sprites, bitmap scrolls and samples. It is a master of one. Vice is a jack of all trades and still VERY good and the only real option for vic 20.

Hope that answers that question?

you really should look in to setting up the C64 (CCS) emulator. It is great fun with SO many wonderful games..

Hi - just posted the first version of a Vice vic20 config..

Got a hell of a lot more complicated than the c64 one but seems to work ok for now!

I'm sure there are several bugs in it but i have yet to find them...

So, will leave the ball in your court and let me know how you get on :)

I tried this today... I can run a game (uzipped) in CCS64 by itself.

My runitgame.bat looks like this:

C:

CD "C:\Emulators\CCS64"

runzip.cmd "G:\C64\roms\LUNARLA5_11849_01.zip"

and when run, gives me this error:

name of window... 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem

C:|Windows\system32\cmd.exe

C:|PROGRA~1\Symantec\s32EVNT1.DLL. An installable Virtual Device Driver failed DLL initialization. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

Anybody have any idea what this is all about?

Edit: Hold on...working on it...

i just switched on the goodrom support and now all my zipped c64 games work through ccs64

I forgot that Tom added .zip support.

My problem is that apparently I have a corrupt install of Norton Anti-Virus. It shows in the add/remove programs list, but there is no option to remove it, and the program does not exist on my computer. I seem to remember somebody ( I swear it wasn't me ) getting in a yank and deleting the files instead of un-installing...

NOW... I delete CCS64 off of my computer, and went back to Winvice. The only reason I switched to CCS64 is because I forgot Tom had added .zip support. So I re-configured Winvice, and said yes to zip support. Everything is GROOVY!

Thanks for the reminder chriss.

Anybody have a map file for C64? I see Greatflash referenced one in his config....
