First of all, thanks for this great application....it's awesome. I had started writing a multi-emulator front-end myself and then found this and realized it wasn't necessary. Great work.

I have an issue when playing videos though...

My PC is hooked up to my TV which runs at 1280x720 resolution. If I specify x=1280 y=720 with the option "Set resolution to below" then it really looks like the interface is at 800x600 or 1024x768 (probably the former)....and when it plays videos, they're clipped....it's as if the video is at a higher resolution than the screen and no scaling is being done so you don't see the entire video.

Also, depending on the particular video it may be shifted down (big black horizontal bar at top of screen) or to the right (big black vertical bar on left of screen).

The behavior also seems rather skin-dependent. I've found that the Default skin works best.

I do have the 'Fullscreen' option turned on in the Display settings.

If I set 'Dont switch resolution' to 'GameEx won't change resolution' then video plays fine, but GameEx does not go full screen (with the Fullscreen option on).

Does anyone else have this problem, or know what I can do about it?

Thanks,

James

PS: I notice some skins specify a resolution in their name....are the skins inherently resolution dependent? If so, are any of them made for 1280x720 resolution?

Can you post your gameex log file please?

No problem,

I've attached two log files, one with GameEx set to change the resolution, one with it set to not change the resolution

I was going to add a log file with me playing a video, but I noticed the only additional line in the log file just mentions 'Playing Video' and nothing about resolution so I didn't think it would be helpful.

No problem....I am the one asking for help after all... :)

By the way, I named one of the files 1280x760 earlier...the actual resolution set all along was 1280x720, and that's the correct resolution. I just named the posted log file incorrectly, so ignore that part.

Sorry about the long delay It may be in here try enabling one of these options. like the ffddshow... perhaps you can configure ffddshow outside gameex.. Then tell gameex to use it.

[DVD]
EnableDVD=True
Codec=0
DVDFFDSHOW=0
EnableDVDDisk=True
DVDPath=E:\videos\dvds
UseVMR9=False

ffdshow is already configured outside of GameEx.

Are you saying that regular video files are played from GameEx using it's internal DVD player and that's why the ffdshow setting would affect it?

I'll give that a shot when I get home this afternoon,

Thanks!

Tried it during lunch with DVD set to use ffdshow and I got the same symptoms.

I'll try it again this evening and review/post the log and config.

Is there additional configuration that ffdshow requires to behave properly?

I mean, I get thumbnails in Explorer and Windows Media Center can play the videos fine so I know it's aware of the codec......but when you say configure ffdshow, are you saying that there are options in it that will control this behavior? I'll check that out this evening as well.
