Hi all,

I have a few questions about peoples emulator setups (Not GameEx). Apologies in advance if I shouldn't be posting this here.

Firstly it seems like some of you have 2-player X-arcades for using GameEx and also some of you use Visual Pinball. I also have one of these but cannot use Pinball properly because the default button setup for the X-Arcade is the Mame Config. Therefore if I try to setup up the flipper buttons in Visual Pinball (normally credit buttons in MAME) for use as flipper button in Pinball they will work as flipper butons but also insert a credit everytime I use them. Has anyone worked out a way around this without using the Programmable button on the back.

Secondly , I am using KEGA for Sega 32X Emulation (it seems to be better than GENS for 32X). But whenever I choose a game to play it says "HARD RESET" "MegaDrive Startup" and also has a framerate dislay that I cant seem to turn off. Once again does anyone know a workaround for this.Or is there an option I have missed to turn this off.

Lastly, when any of you are using Emulators that wont work without showing the desktop how do you get around the problem of it looking like you are on a P.C. Is it just a case of hiding all of your desktop shortcuts away and choosing a nice Desktop image or is there a better way of doing this too.

Once again apologies if I shouldn't be posting this here. Thankyou in Advance for anyone that might be able to help me get rid of these few anoyances in my setup. ;)

Ok, let me try two of these:

Open KEGA outside of gameex and check under the options. Uncheck anything you do not want displayed.

Lastly, when any of you are using Emulators that wont work without showing the desktop how do you get around the problem of it looking like you are on a P.C. Is it just a case of hiding all of your desktop shortcuts away and choosing a nice Desktop image or is there a better way of doing this too.

I believe you are talking about the time when you select a game in gameex and the game loading --->seeing the desktop. I don't think there is much you can do other than go to the display properties, select none for the background, black for the color and remove any desktop icons. That way when it shows the desktop you wouldn't see the transition. Or, hell make a big sign on your desktop that says GAMEEX IS NOW LOADING YOUR GAME to try and tie the whole thing together....just a thought.

As for the joysticks, I use a usb to ps2 converter and have to use joy2key...I don't know about your joystick but if visual pinball won't read the inputs you might have to look at that for an option...unless somebody knows any different?

for visual pinball replace vpmkeys.vbs with the one attached. I have 2P X-Arcade and already fixed this.

For most emulators, you can set "Show Desktop" to false. This doesn't work for VPinMame, though. Like you said, changing the desktop image and hiding the icons are about your only choice.

I managed to make mine start up a bit cleaner by minimizing the visual pinball table editor (might be able to do the same thing with "START /MIN vpinball.exe"). Now I just see the VPinmame splash screen instead of the ugly white "rendering" dialog.

Thanks for this. I spent all yesterday searching for a fix/trying to fix it myself.

Also, for anybody reading this topic, Gameex now has a "hide desktop" option in "Display Settings" that will hide your icons, and make the desktop black for you.
