Hey everyone, I think I found a small bug in Instant Sheller. If I load an image that is not 640x480 or 16 colors no changes are made to the system but Instant Sheller won't let you load another image. It crashes if you try. You then have to restart the computer, be welcomed to XP with none of the checked changes made, tell instant sheller to undo changes, and then restart and try again. Could this all be avoided by checking the image size and number of colors on image selection instead of when trying to apply changes?

This then leads to my second question. How have some of you made custom boot screens? I want to convert my marquee to a boot screen. If I load it in paint and save as 16 colors it looks terrible but works with instant sheller. If I load it in photoshop and change the mode to 16 color indexed it looks pretty good but after I save it to a bitmap Instant Sheller rejects it saying that it is not 640x480 or 16 colors. Does anybody have any suggestions? I know how to check the image size in XP but how do I check to make sure Photoshop saved to only 16 colors?

Thanks!

OK I fixed my 16 color issue. It seems that photoshop CS3 has a bug in saving to 4 bit images. I used CS2 and it worked fine.

You might be able to use Gimp... Its free and pretty good image editor..

Windows is very picky about resolutions and color on its boot screens..
