Gang,

Game Ex has been working great. However, the last few timesz i have exited window I get the hideos.exe (or dll) failed to initialize error which really slows down the shutdown of windows.

I dont recall seeing this error the first couple weeks of usage.

Thanks in advance for the help!

To further clarify, Game EX and the games work fine, the problem occurrs when trying to shut down the computer. Thanks!

Chad

Are you talking about shutting down the computer from GameEx (by selecting the item), or shutting down in windows using the start button?

The HideOS.exe problem only occurs when shutting down or restarting from from inside GAME Ex.

The other issue is when I shutdown or restart from windows or Game EX, I get a "net Broadcast event Window 1.0.5" error.

Everything was working fine until recently. I havent made any changes to the system.

Any advice is appreicated. I promise to turn off windows auto updates if someone can help! :)

I see there is a net 2.0 download off of microsoft. Would that help or hurt?

I cut this from the gameex site:

"GameEx requires the .net Framework 2.0 and DirectX 9 or above to run."

I didn't read this entire thread, but hopefully that helps.

For GameEx to work at all you must have .net 2 installed

Can you post your GameEx log please, with this happening.

Thanks.

Tom,

Dumb question...I am not particularly tech savy, where do I find the log to post? Is it just a text file?

Because this problem happens when I shutdown the computer turns off and when I reboot, it loads Game EX. Will the log still be helpful or do I need to interrupt the booting prior to GAME EX loading?

Thank you for taking the time to help.

Many thanks!

The log file is in Gameex>LOG it is a text file named log.

You would need to stop Gameex from starting, because if you don't the log file will be overwritten. You probably just need to take Gammex out of your startup folder.

I have my cabs shelled out and have run into this problem in the past. I had a random problem that would cause my system to lockup and require a hard reboot. When it started up, GameEx would start right away and delete the old log file so that I wouldn't be able to see what broke. The solution I came up with was a script that would check to see if the computer shut down nicely the last time and, if not, it would copy the log file to another location for inspection. This worked very well for what I was trying to do. If this would be helpful, I could post my AHK script.
