Any1 have the use avi snap feature working in vista? I have the codecs and they will play outside of Game Ex but when I enabled this feature it locked up Game Ex I had to control alt delete to close Game Ex. If you have it working in Vista how did you do it?

Make sure you're using FFDShow Codecs, download it from within the GameEx setup utility. If you've installed DivX remove it. I have mine setup in Vista and everything works, no special settings or anything.

I didn't install FFDShow from within game ex I did it on my own. I never install the "Divx" codec :) I guess I'm back to square one :)

Is your avi snaps path right in GameEx? Not sure where your avi snaps are from but for troubleshooting purposes start with a single video you know will work in GameEx like one from the EmuMovies site. You may also want to try switch the theme in GameEx and checking it, i've had themes cause odd problems before.

the path is not the problem. I can hear the sound and see a flicker of video before the crash. What theme are you using? I will switch, currently I am using the default theme.

Just a note, I use the SD snaps, not the HiQ ones.

Ah Ha! I was trying to use the HiQ ones. I will switch to the SD and try again. :)

What codecs are you using? I found the Vista Codec Package is great for XP 64. Haven't had any chance to test if it works with GameEx though.

Once again you rock!!!! That link was dead so I googled and found it. Apparantly FFDShow isn't enough. Now I need to make some for seattle games. How do you make these avisnaps?

Oh yeah strange about the link, but if you right-click on it and select "Copy Shortcut" then paste it into a new browser window it works okay. Anyway, the Vista Codec Package already included ffdshow, so you might want to uninstall any previous version of it. All I have is the Vista Codec Package installed on my XP 64 machine and so far it has been able to play everything I throw at it. According to their website "With this package installed you won't need to install any other codecs."

Well with MameUI there is an option called "Play and Record MNG Output...". Once you make the file I believe GameEx can play them but there are programs called mng2avi by Buddabing and another mng2avi by silver.

Otherwise I think GameEx can record avi snaps, but I don't know how. I normally download full avi video sets myself.
