Hello everyone! This is my first post. I am in the (slow) process of building my own cocktail table MAME machine. Right now I am working on the software side first, and for the most part I have been able to figure stuff out on my own except for the Artwork/Bezels. I have downloaded a bunch of Bezels for games like Digdug, Donkey Kong, etc and I have added them to numerous folders and no luck on them showing up when I launch the game. I have tried them in the "artworkgameex" folder, "artwork" folder, and even "background" folder in Zipped and Non-Zipped forms. When I pull up the game in the MAME section like i am going to get ready to play, the "artwork" option shows up, and when highlighted, shows the artwork, but not for all games. Also, I have "updated" the application after each and every change I have made with no luck. When I launch the game, it still shows the "Default" MAME on one side, GAME Ex on the other side Bezel. Please help. :( Thanks for your wisdom in advance!

Your artwork/bezels go into the Artwork directory in your MAME folder.

Mame (fairly recently) changed the way it handles .LAY files.... Make sure your bezels you accuired are for your version of mame.

Also Post your gameex log... This way we can see your command line.

Make sure you have show bezels in the mame config. Whick Im sure you do because the gameex one comes up. Also your Layfiles need to be named the same as your roms zip name. Gameex will use its own if one isnt found.

Open your runlast game.bat and see where its telling mame the artwork is supposed to be.

Also you may want to verify your paths..

Here is the strange part. When I click on the runlastgame.bat, it pulls up the game (digdug in this case) with the correct bezel. When I go into Game EX it pulls up the default MAME bezel. I am still updating after every change I make just in case. How would I check the version of bezels versus my version of MAME? I am attaching my LOG for you guys to check out. I have also tried copying the files to different folder and switched up the paths to see if that worked, but nothing. There is still a learning curve I am getting used to with this stuff, but thanks to everyone here in this community, I think I will be O.K.
