Hi all i am trying to configure diferent background image to each emulatos, but i can´t. Is it posibly?. I have tried in the config menu to select a png for each emulator and didn´t work. then, i tried to make my own theme. I select the background image, it appears perfect in the preview area, but when i open game ex, and enter for example in megadrive, it shows de same mame background of the start. Why?

You need to go into the Emulator and select a custom background there. Changing it in the Theme layout editor doesn't seem to work whether you have Advanced GFX on or not.

From the GameEx setup wizard:

Custom-->Emulator Setup

Select the Emulator you want a custom background for from the pulldown

Hit next twice to get to Emulator Setup (3)

about halfway down is 'Custom Background'. Select your background.

Keep hitting next and exit

Should work in GameEx then.

Thanks, Im trying to fix this for the next release. I guess Mamewah importing is broken because of this too?

If you need me to do any testing with the Theme Editor, let me know. I'm a graphic artist and web developer by trade so I have over 15yrs. worth of layout & photo editing software experience to draw comparison from. :)

Even though I came to GameEx from using Mamewah I didn't use the converter as it wasn't reliable and just became quicker to recreate it. Not sure how this affects the conversion.

If you created your own themes for MAMEwah, then you would have the source available to just redo things for GameEx. The Theme Editor is really for people who want to take their MAMEwah downloaded theme into GameEx quick and dirty. I've seen good results, but then I didn't try it extensively to say when/why it wouldn't work. I don't think I actually had a problem with it, but I only tried it a couple times before finding one of the default themes I liked.

Did you base your theme on an existing one? I know this is a problem with the AcidBrain Vision theme. Did you make custom emulator layouts as well as backgrounds?

You can still do custom positioning, just not on an Emulator by Emulator basis, you need to use one universal set of coords for the time being. For some reason the Theme Editor doesn't won't remember positioning for certain items. Just make note of the X and Y position in the Theme Editor for the problem items and then go into the Theme.ini file and change the position manually. Each time you go in and out of the Theme Editor and re-save it you'll have to do this again.

Which elements and locations are not saved? Things like this are easy to fix so it's best to report them as a bug.

Was discussed in the Themes Editor Questions thread back in Early December

I'm having the same problem as gerg was with the info box staying in the same location and don't see a response from him trying Headkaze's suggestion. I've tried changing 'Info' to 'ImageInfo' in the Theme.ini with no luck. In fact, when I then open the Theme again it recreates the Info box (and init entry) with the default location and size: Info=20,160,251,159

I've sent an e-mail to Tom about this issue. I have a feeling I changed the name of one of the graphic elements which was not updated in GameEx. We should get this fixed ASAP. Just out of curiousity can you try changing "Info" to "Menu". I have a feeling that could be the one I renamed.
