Having trouble updating list

So basically, I can't get any games to display that I add to the folder unless I manually add them to the data file. The original few I had are in there, but beyond that it seems to have stopped checking for new files for some reason. Clicking update list does nothing... Probably missing something really obvious here sorry.

First thing to check is rom filters under Advanced MAME Settings page 2. There's other threads here that describe the filter settings more thoroughly. After that, check the integrity of your rom's using a program like clrmamepro.

Ok, well then it could be a number of things depending on the emulator and roms, need to be a little more specific. What do you mean by 'manually adding them to the data file?' More info on the emulator and roms in question would be helpful.

As a quick guess I would say check the file extensions it's looking for. If the rom's are zipped it should be looking for .zip files, if it's a cd type emulator like ePSXe it'd likely be looking for .iso or .bin files etc.

Also remember there are base config files for nearly every emulator on this forum pinned at the top. Check those setups vs. your (own if you're not already using them) since they're confirmed as working and are a good starting point.

Turn off any map files and disable 7zip.
