just had a look at GameBase Amiga.mdb and found

2|~|0|~|0|~|5|~|0|~|1|~||~|cd=dh1:Fire&IceXmasDemo;

i know what cd=dh1:Fire&IceXmasDemo is doing (thats what gets written to user-startup file

but what is

2|~|0|~|0|~|5|~|0|~|1|~||~|

and i can see how adfs work (what kickstart and so on)

but cant find the what kickstart for whdload

I have no idea what those values are for. If Balgarath was a bit more responsive on e-mail I would ask him. He did answer my first e-mail and I was suprised to find out he already knew about this project. Perhaps you could ask on the Mage forums?

The kickstart value for whdload is linked back to the Game table using the GA_Id value as the key.

ok just about to start on the demos i found all the info i need in the GameBase Amiga.mdb

i have one question to make adding the demos easier

in the data field you see

eg

2|~|0|~|0|~|5|~|0|~|1|~||~|cd=dh1:Elvira;

and if you click it and scroll down

you see

whdload=Elvira.slave PRELOAD;

collision_level=playfields

cpu_speed=real

immediate_blits=false

cpu_compatible=false

cpu_cycle_exact=false

blitter_cycle_exact=false|~|WHD

is there a way to expand the data field so i can see all the info like above and not have to scroll down

thank you all

hk was thinking about aueloader last night i thought how cool it would be to have a frontend for adding your own games eg adf whdload and demes and so on to own games .mdb

select adf or whdload zip or 7z

you could have a tick box for things like kickstart chip ram jet on or off game name

as for to whldoad you could read all the info slave preload and so on from the amiga icon file

1 test button

2 quit game

3 add to mdb

it could standalone from uaeloader

uaeloader could have own mdb

eg

gamebase.mdb

whdload.mdb

sps.mdb

own.mbd

anyway just thinking

Hi,

I have a few questions on the GameEx configuration for WinUAELoader.

I have everything set up for the wrapper and all works fine when launching a game from WinUAELoader. No matter what I do, I just can't get any games to show up in the GameEx menu (setup is: Emulators--->Amiga and all my other emus are working fine and showing all games). I've imported the .ini file and adjusted my paths to point to the right locations. Also, my games are all stored in a single folder and my Rom filter is set to *.zip, since the gamebase files all came in zip format. Again all works fine from the WinUAELoader app, but list always shows" -NO GAMES FOUND" in GameEx.

Any ideas? I know I'm missing something simple here somewhere, so any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks

Check your GameEx log file. Obviously the ROM Path is incorrect or something so I would check that again. Also check your WinUAELoader.log file it might help you discover exactly whats wrong.

Thanks for the response Headkaze. I got everything working after doublechecking the .ini files manually. Although I can't remember what I did, it must've been a correction in the filepath.

Anyway, I also want to say that WinUAELoader is an amazing piece of software and works flawlessly from within GameEX and via it's standalone app. I do occasionally get an error for missing Kickstart Roms although I do have a very comprehensive list of available ROMs from the original Amiga Forever distribution which I bought a while back.

Here's what's coming up when I try to load Burntime via a WHDLoad package for example:

Dos-Error #205
(object not found)
on reading "devs:kickstarts/kick34005.a500"

I'm pretty sure I have the right Rom files, and the paths are all setup correctly. Any ideas on this?

Last, I'd like to register WinUAELoad, but from what I could see, I'd have to send an envelope via mail to germany? Is there any other way to register? Paypal for instance.

Thanks for any help and this great app!!

You don't need to register WinUAELoader to get rid of that nag screen. Visit the WHDLoad website, you can pay him via PayPal. I have nothing to do with WHDLoad so the registration fee goes to Bert not me ;)

You have to place kickstart's in the following folder and rename them as follows

WinUAELoader\WHD\Devs\Kickstarts\

kick34005.A500 <-- Actual ROM (Kickstart v1.3 rev 34.5 (1987)(Commodore)(A500-A1000-A2000-CDTV).rom)
kick34005.A500.PAT
kick34005.A500.RTB
kick40068.A1200 <-- Actual ROM (Kickstart v3.1 rev 40.68 (1993)(Commodore)(A1200).rom)
kick40068.A1200.PAT
kick40068.A1200.RTB
kick40068.A4000 <-- Actual ROM (Kickstart v3.1 rev 40.68 (1993)(Commodore)(A4000).rom)
kick40068.A4000.PAT
kick40068.A4000.RTB

Thanks so much for the info Headkaze...all is working perfectly now!!

Maybe the information for installing the roms and renaming could be added to a documentation file, since it's really not intuitive for new users to do this. Especially the renaming part which seems a bit unconventional.

Good idea, I'll add that to the readme.txt now

hey hk,

i wanted to try out your winuae loader, but i didn't get it to work.

here is what i did:

I have the No Intro Amiga Collection. All files are zipped and contain ipf files. I downloaded the plugin to use ipf files with winuae. if i attach the zip into the floppy of winuae the game works fine.

In WinuaeLoader I configured all the paths and set the gamemode to sps. But when i click on run game no game show up.

when i use winuae loader by command line it doesn't give me any message about what could have failed.

I tried it both with packed and unpacked files, i put the kick.rom in the devs/kickrom dir...

What could be the problem?

thanks for your help!

Hey Chriss...

The files need to be named under the Gamebase Amiga naming convention (as opposed to the No-Intro)

If you goto the Gamebase Amiga site... Downloads section... Extras... There is a Dat file for the SPS games. Use Clrmamepro (or romcenter) to rebuild your sps files with this... Hopefully most of your games will be picked up by the dat and you will then be able to use them. Gamebase Amiga does not contain EVERY game though so you still might end up missing some.

Note: Make sure that when you rebuild... you are creating them in a new folder and it is not set to Remove the source files.

Let us know how you get on.

thanks man, i appreciate your help. i worked with clrmamepro before so it should be no big issue. let's hope it works

or is there maybe the possibility to launch winuae just like that out of gameex?

I'm not dogging you out.... You can edit a post if you need to...

I'm not sure if that's what you were trying to do, but if you want to make a correction, click edit, select full or quick, make your changes, and then click "complete edit".

You have to be a Mod to do that...

I would delete 90% of mine if I could, and get my correct answer ratio up to about 65%. :lol:

haha true!

btw, i gotta try tempest, don't know it from the old days but you make a good promotion for it!

i posted these questions in another topic and got no reply. i guess because the question wasn't in the appropriate thread. Pleas don't blame me for double posting....

is it possible to enable the filters in winuae like hq2x or 2xsai when using winuae loader? and somehow the stretch vertical or horizontal option doiesn't do anything...

I'm not sure what stretch vertical or horizontal options your talking about, I only see centre horizontal and vertical.

It's not possible to enable filters in the loader as it would be alot of work for me to introduce all the GUI and code for adjusting those settings. The only thing I can suggest is you take the WHDLoad.uae file and open it in WinUAE, set the filters you want then save it. That should do the trick.

It's a shame WinUAE is such a PITA to get a decent display going. I would love to automate it to "stretch to fit" the display but I don't think it's possible without messing with some filters.

sorry, i misread the option. i was already wondering why it was displaying so small... when i set it to 640x480 it almost fills the whole screen so i will go with that.

I try to change the config file now! i understand it's too much work to implement, but it sounds easy to manually adjust that.

will post back when it's working

edit - i got it to work... by manually editing the whdload.uae i got the 2xsai enabled. but the 2xsai engine only seems to be used at the amiga os command prompt. in a game its still pixels..

anyone know what i do wrong?
