I guess things will just sit as they are...since no one is trying things out.

Hey Logic, thanks for working on this. I've tested it pretty thoroughly. See my comments below:

  • Psychic Force issue seems to be resolved. You mention changing paths to correspond to the batch files. Not sure what to change there so I didn't change anything and it launched fine. I used a completely fresh install folder to make sure.
I still had the below problems with the KN1 games:

â?¢ Only 3 of the 4 games launched, Susume just got a black screen everytime.

â?¢ Xpadder mapping would only work every other game, game 1 would work, exit and launch again, game 2 wouldn't, exit and launch, game 3 works, 4 doesn't etc. This held true for Hyper Athlete, Power Baseball and Wedding Rhapsody.

â?¢ No sound in any of the 3 games.

â?¢ After playing a game with the mapping working and going back to GameEx I noticed xpadder is still open and there's some strangeness in the navigation. Pressing up on the joystick would do a 'page up' or 'home' in my list. Also, when I'd select a game, Susume for example, it would select an alternate game from the list. Hitting return would still select the correct game. Alt-tabbing to the desktop and quitting Xpadder fixed this immediately so I think it's the mappings being retained when back in GameEx.

  • Also used Xpadder to map one of my Ultimarc 360 joysticks and buttons which seemed to work fine for player 1 stick and buttons but when I went to do a player 2 profile it doesn't see my P2 U360 even though I can see it separately in the OS under my game controllers. Found this odd.
The only other oddity I found is that HyperAthlete will crash after 1 event. Not sure if this is Xpadder related. Didn't have time to test fully.

There you have it. Getting closer. Nerd and Geek are totally different. ;)

Okay I'll look into these issues...but you may want to hunt around about the sound issue your self as it'll be lower on my to-do list than the other issues which are clearly my fault somehow. :)

Do a quicky test for me...download the current beta for Xpadder and replace your current build...part of the Xpadder issues could do with the version listed in the configs which will prevent older builds from opening the files.

As for Nerd vs Geek...my view of a nerd is someone with who has no sense of dress, balance or ability to speak without putting their proverbial foot in their mouth...social rejects by happenstance. Geeks are also social rejects of sorts...but more so because of their mental choice of interests & topics. Geeks rather than debating whether or not one type of blue jeans is cool or not, would instead debate whether or not Nietzsche was cool or not.

Heh okay I'll get back to my coding & trouble shooting now. ;)

Say Nolo...

I upgraded to your recent package and followed the walk-thru as besty I could. I only have a quick question:

After configuring the sound.znc and Renderer_GL2.znc in ePSXe, do I re-rename them and move them back to the ZiNc directory I ganked them from... Or do I leave them in the ePSXe plugins directory as dlls? I use pSX no ePSXe, so I guess I'm a noob in that area. Anyways, that's where you lost me.

I can't get some games to load and I suspect this might be why.

Posted

Well if you copied them over you can leave them or delete them...now if you cut\moved them over...then you'll need to copy\cut\move them back and rename.

Be sure to make a list of what games fail...also make sure to test them with a different render as there maybe issues with that game or your system...ATI I guess is having some issues with OGL2 so may want to make some changes...

I am actually using an ATI card, so I may switch back to D3D for the time being. I'll see if that helps any.

I currently have sound.znc and Renderer_GL2.znc from the zip in the ZiNc directory, and the new (modified) dll's in the ePSXe plugin directory. We'll see how it goes. :)

Be sure to change the resolution in the settings.ini file to something your monitor can handle. I made that mistake and was getting a black screen since I forgot and left the default res in there which is really high, 1600x something. Since you say it's only some games that may not be it but I thought I'd throw it out there just in case. I'm using an ArcadeVGA card (which is ATI based) and have got every ZiNc game to run with Logics setup using D3D except the KN1 game Susume, still get the old black screen on that one. All of the KN1 games and Xpadder interaction I still have some probs with but the other games work well.

Will be a couple days before I can test some more, am working on multiple cabs now so I've been dragging the comp and cp to the shop to wire and test. I'll let you know if the newest beta helps. I did try playing some games at the shop tonight and noticed some definite Xpadder probs while back in GameEx. Xpadder stays open while back in GameEx and it does wierd stuff like messing with my scrolling, and when I select a game, showing info for a different game. Alt-tabbing to the desktop and quitting Xpadder solves this. This goes for a Saitex game controller as well as my one programmed U360.

Right with ya on this one, that's my exact definition and the word Dork and Nerd are interchangeable. Always seen Geek as the more preferable. I guess the fact that I'm contemplating this in the first place proves I'm a Geek. :)

That and the fact we're arguing about the definition makes us nerds! :D

Heh thats a cheap shot in an attempt to win something that has yet to be made a challenge. :)

Heh assertions of fact are not facts in and of them selves. :)

okay lets not go letting this geek vs nerd thing highjack the thread.

Well for me it was a GL problem. I switched to D3D and everything is just peachy now. Thanks!

Works great as far as I can tell. :)

Hi everybody i'm new here, well I have a problem trying to Zinc work on gameex, I just can get the sound works perfect but I get just a black screen, just the audio, i'm using zinc in "advance mame settings", and I don't know what solution I can do, because it's working the roms but without picture.... :(

Quick Zinc question.

Is there a way to get the sound working in Hyper Athete? I am running Zinc as a separte emu for this one CHD game, since the Zinc crashes with the winterblast controller config.

Thanks!

Try turning off the option for hiding the desktop in GameEx Setup. This is on by default (which doesn't make any sense since it breaks the built in Zinc setup) and turning it off fixed this for me.

You sure its not the GL renderer causing you greif? I had to change to D3D when I was having this issue. Try running a D3D game and see if everything works or not.

That's right Nologic, your favorite emulator is back. Ok, so a couple days turned into 20 or so but I competely finished all 3 of my cabs so that's cool! I didn't forgot about testing this and thanks again for the help. Results below.

Okay I'll look into these issues...but you may want to hunt around about the sound issue your self as it'll be lower on my to-do list than the other issues which are clearly my fault somehow. :)

Yep, found the issue with the sound. My machine doesn't like having the Filter Enabled, Filter Cutoff, Surround Lite or Stereo Exciter on. Removing these 4 lines from your Config-->ZiNc_D3D.cfg did the trick. It may just be one of those options it doesn't like, not sure. I found out by running the ZiNc GUI to see if I had sound, I did, and those options were shut off so I just matched.

Do a quicky test for me...download the current beta for Xpadder and replace your current build...part of the Xpadder issues could do with the version listed in the configs which will prevent older builds from opening the files.

This didn't do anything for me. I'm running the most recent stable version, doesn't look like there's any beta's out there currently. Became a moot point, see below.

Try the attached executables and see if they solve your Xpadder issues.

This fixed my issue completely. What would happen previously is Xpadder would still be open after returning to GameEx so when I'd press my Alpha Paging key (my 3rd button) it was still mapped to 'D' and it would jump to the D's in the list. This also fixed the problem of the controls not working after each game. You'd quit out of the game, come back into GameEx, launch another game and the controls wouldn't work. You'd have to go back to the desktop, kill Xpadder and come back into GameEx and then they would work again. The new executables fixed it so YOU DA MAN!

Only remaining issues:

In HyperAthlete if you let the animations run in between events it will sometimes hang. I think this is a quirk of that game and has nothing to do with anything we've been discussing though.

Susume still black screens but this is a ROM issue on my part. I expect once I get the ROM going it will work by the others.

I now consider ZiNc's ass kicked so thanks for bending it to my will!

Good to hear.

Yeah I noticed that Filter & Stereo Exciter effected sound in a bad way with the chd's...didn't fully test.

Actually need some one with good hearing to dink around with it see if those or other sound values are worth bothering with...I'm slightly hard of hearing...in part because of being a carpenter...TNT going off 30 feet above you takes its toll over time....fucking bridges...hehe

The game runs fine, but no sound.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

See above, for me the fix was to turn off the Filter, Filter Cutoff, Surround Lite or Stereo Exciter. Try experimenting in ZiNc GUI where it's easier to turn these on and off to see what works. Once it's working in there (and if you're using Nolo's launcher) change the ZiNc .cfg to match match those settings. For me it came down to just deleting the last 4 lines of the ZiNc_D3D.cfg file.

So to sum up our what we've learned of Nologic from this thread: he's a red-neck\skin-head looking Geek (not Nerd!) ex-carpenter who plays sissy games like Mr. Driller and is slightly hard of hearing from blowing up bridges. Paint's quite the picture don't it?

Thanks again for the help.
