Hello,

I'm currently trying to setup null DC and Project Tempest to work with GameEx. I tried using Chankast for Dreamcast, but that didn't seem to run as well as null DC, outside of GameEx. Here are some problems I'm having.

null DC: When I run it from GameEx, it always asks for a CD. If I set it up to mount the image, it makes my game list disappear.

Project Tempest: I can't get the games to launch fullscreen, so I always get a black screen hiding the window.

That's all I can think of, off the top of my head.

GETTING NULL DC to LAUCH VIA GAMEEX commandline (NOTE: THIS WILL WORK FOR THE NEWEST VERSION ALSO> JUST BE SURE TO USE THE PROPER EXE NAME) :)

Find the Nulldc.cfg in the INSTALL DIR. look for these tags

[imageReader]

DefaultImage=

PatchRegion=0

LoadDefaultImage=1

[nullDC]

Dynarec.Enabled=1

Dynarec.DoConstantPropagation=1

Dynarec.UnderclockFpu=0

Dreamcast.Cable=3

Dreamcast.RTC=1543276800

Emulator.AutoStart=1

[drkpvr]

Emulation.AlphaSortMode=1

Emulation.PaletteMode=1

Emulation.ModVolMode=1

OSD.ShowFPS=0

OSD.ShowStats=0

Fullscreen.Enabled=1

Fullscreen.Res_X=640

Fullscreen.Res_Y=480

Fullscreen.Refresh_Rate=60

Enhancements.MultiSampleCount=0

Enhancements.MultiSampleQuality=0

Enhancements.AspectRatioMode=1

NOW SAVE THE NULLDC CONFIG AND GO INTO THE GAMEEX CONFIG

(in gameex config)Command=nulldc_100b1_5.exe -config ImageReader:DefaultImage="[rompath]/[romfile]"

Are your Jag games zipped? Project Tempest doesn't support zip files that I know of. I haven't got it to work yet. But as far as full screen mode just need to select that option in Project Tempest. Maybe you have an old version. Newer one offers full screen.

1) I tried that with null DC, but it didn't work. I may have turned off the image loader when trying to use Daemon Tools, though.

2) No the Jaguar files are not zipped. Fullscreen works when I run outside of GameEx, but I think it defaults back to window. I can't seem to find a cfg file either.

Thanks,

PF

Well the nulldc config works like this. Im sure youll get it going..

For the jag.. Open the RUNLASTGAME.bat located in the start menu>programs>gameex> group. See what its doing...

Also try setting showdesktop to ON in the emu config.

I can't get it going either Brian. Maybe cuz my roms have the extension .j64????? Cuz it doesn't load straight into it. Off the open menu i notice that it's asking for a .jag file. Virtual Jaguar works however. Just need to go through the config and setup. You might wanna try that Perfect_Form

I'll have to mess around with null DC, when I get home tonight.

As for the Jaguar, I tried Virtual Jaguar first, but couldn't get that to work at all. Oh, and I'm using .jag files.

Sorry about being vague.

Both null DC and Project Tempest work outside of GameEx, via manually loading games. Here are the problems I encounter with each:

null DC: Asks me to insert Dreamcast CD. It's set up to load the default.cdi, and if I understand correctly, GameEx is set to change that to [ROMPATH]/[ROMFILE]. Now, null DC says it cannot find Default Image.

Project Tempest: After enabling the desktop to show, I get a window (should be Fullscreen) and it is just black. Image does not load properly.

Thanks,

PF

Please post a copy of your emulator config. You can launch the gameex advanced configuration and choose dreamcast and click the export button. Open the exported file and post the contents here.

also

Post the contents of your nulldc.cfg

Here are my configs. I had to zip them, to upload them.

Well Im no project tempest expert... Ive never even tried it.. Ive heard jag emulation is buggy at best..

As far as nulldc goes your nulldc.cfg file is much diffrent than mine. since you have yours backed up here try overwriting your with mine.

NOTE: you may need to reconfigure your inputs.

Could the difference be that my nullDC version is beta 1.6? Are you using beta 1.5?

I will try your cfg, and get back to you.

Thanks,

PF

EDIT: Nope, tried your config and I still get an error. I guess that narrows it down to either GameEx or the version of nullDC I'm using.

Hehehe You gameex config is messed up... Iam using 1.6 nulldc

Gameex itself should not be asking for a cd.

Problem

CDCheck=True

Wow I missed that the first time I looked at your config.... Jeez all this time wasted

Yeah, I just figured this out, as well.

Also, don't worry about the Jaguar thing, I only want to play one game on there anyways...AvP.

Now, if I could just get the Xbox 360 controller for windows to work properly...

You wouldn't happen to know how to adjust the deadzone for the 360 controller, would you? I've tried XBCD drivers, but they won't load. I might just go the JoyToKey route.

Thanks so much!
