Newbie here setting up my first MAME configuration. I have a standard control panel layout (2-joy sticks with 6 buttons each player) happ trackball and the standard player 1&2 with coin buttons. Everything is run through an I-pac and opti-pac and all switches are working. Trackball works on windows desktop. I am at a loss configuring gameex and the mame.ini file. When I launch gameex and try to launch a trackball game no trackball is visible on the control panel layout splash screen. Is there a command line switch to enter inside gameex or do I edit the .ini file in the mame folder or both? I am soooooo close to getting this up and running it's driving me nuts! I am sure it's a path or directory issue on my end. I am totally unsure about the directory structure with mame and the front end so if someone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

That Cpanel overlay is just a picture. Usually there is notes that mention that the game is opertaed by a trackball/spinner/joystick.

Does your trackball work in MAME? you may need to add the -mouse switch in the gameex config under advanced mame settings.

Well I got it working with checking the "use mouse" under the config tab inside mame32. What is throwing me a curve was / is my usb wireless mouse plugged in. My I-pac is ps2 and my opti-pac is usb. I have gameex in my start up folder when windows boots. Sometime it launches fine and the trackball works perfect. If I use the wireless usb mouse before launching a game sometimes the trackball does not work. Its about 50/50%. The trackball works 100% under windows (XPpro).

I used the standard key mapping. Is there a "better" layout for mapping keys like "left mouse click" accept. Learning the layout is the most confusing part. I am guessing if I remove the wireless usb mouse my conflict will go away also.
