Having recently rebuilt my arcade cabinet PC, I'd forgotten just how HUGE a GameEx environment can get when you have more than a handful of emus set up. Polishing up the end user experience can be pretty daunting.. Anyway, I created a spreadsheet to help me work out where I was in the project.. Worked well, but there's always a better way.

So... I'm thinking about writing a script which does this:

Read GameEx config file

---> For each emulator which is enabled in GameEx

---------> Read file/folder details for roms, snaps, titles, boxes, carts, movies, etc.

---------> Count roms/snaps/etc in those folders

---------> Output results in HTML or something similar, with percentage of extras vs roms.

Anyone else interested in this? I'll gladly stick to my spreadsheet if not :P

Would be sweet if this functionality was eventually rolled into the Setup Wizard, but I'll happily do a proof of concept in the meantime ;)

Spreadsheet is online at http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pUK...Uxb-M8kiRmtyaA.. (attachment feature won't stop initialising when I tried to attach it.)

edit: this time it would let me upload the spreadsheet..

When you enter "OK" in the first few columns, it goes green. But I just realised this version of the spreadsheet doesn't have the right conditional formatting or formulas as the previous one I'd done. Use your imagination - when you fill in the ROMS and snaps/carts/boxes/etc, it shades each box in as a ratio of how many snaps/carts/boxes you have vs ROMS.
