I've read the forum info posted about when your gameex is slow.

Thing s I did the things suggested (except I never turned off alpha blending- not sure how to), and gameex works PERFECT. Only problem is the emumovies or moviesnaps....

when I select a game the video starts then freezes (the sound doesn't freeze at all), then the video plays a bit more and freezes again.

I can play the video files perfectly outside of gameex.

Any ideas about what i could do to fix this?

Thanks

Alpha blend

See snap

Thanks for the info.

I turned alpha blend OFF.

Still have videos playing for a few seconds, freezing (sound still plays), video unfreezes, etc

The videos play EXCELLENT outside of gameex.

Gameex is running real fast otherwise...just the video part.

Any ideas???

Have you tried enabling 16bit color?

Hi,

I had a very similar problem for a long time, where the snaps would not play for about 5 seconds or so, then would play fine. In the end, I downloaded a free registry cleaner (I'm not sure which one it was) and ran that, and the video snaps run perfectly now. Is you system a bit old? I just had too much crap installed over the years and they were the problem.

Hope this helps,

Johnny

I had the same problem myself. I switched from using the FFDShow codec on the main page to CCCP. I turned off divx, xvid, etc through CCCP. Then I set AVI snap audio to off. When I booted up again, things worked great. Unfortunately, I did all of these at the same time, so I don't know which one(s) were needed. I would try AVI snap audio first, then the codecs.

where do I change avisnap audio?

I use the lower quality set since I'm just using them for previews. The option to turn off avi snap audio...sorry I don't remember. If you load up the setup wizard, you can search for avi and it should pop it right up for you though!

Is anyone else who is having the black screen crash when using the new emumovies able to play them when not in full screen? I tried running gameEx in a window and they work (you have to left click) and it doesn't crash.

My pc is powerful enough and other avi snaps work in gameExfine and these avis work fine outside of game-ex so it must be some kind of bug that it's crashing full screen.

I have xvid and divx installed and have tried all of the tips in this thread (turn off snap audio, alpha, 16 bit etc). I don't want to do ffdshow or cccp because I don't think that's the problem as the avis work just not in full-screen,

Are there other MAME avi previews packs as large as emumovies or somewhere to get the 1.06 emumovies that I heard work fine?

thanks

Strange the new SQ set uses the same encoding as the older 1.06 set. I have never had any problems with my vids in gameex but I only use the xvid codec, it decodes divx as well but the divx codec creates nothing but headaches these days, and I do not use ffdshow.

not sure if it helps any but here's my experience....

i had this same problem with the HQ set, switched to SQ and it was fine after that.

before that, i did also have lots of weird problems with video in gameex... in general ... i tried the FFDShow snapshot builds ... CCCP2 .... neither would work. i went to the FFDshow version posted on the http://gameex.net downloads page ... and everything seems to work with that. while that pkg may not be 'optimal' as its a bit old, it works fine.

I had the exact same problem just recently. I updated to the newest version of GameEx and I guess my video codec (k-lite) for FFDshow was not working properly. I also downloaded the one one the GameEx main page and it worked like a charm.
