a nice CRT TV with component input .. being fed by a NVidia 7-series with component output (must be component...) looks great when you use Soft15KHz to make the card render internally at native arcade res... but then resample the picture at the TV output stage only.

i've tried a couple configs, with svideo, composite, component .. and ATI 2600 vs NVidia 7-series .... the 8-series would be nice but it doesn't support the low arcade type resolutions, for whatever reason.

it's hard to beat the authenticity of an arcade monitor, but they present their own 'challenges' ... as of lately QA seems to be a problem for some manufacturers, if word of mouth holds true. this nvidia 7/sdtv 480i component input config is the best compromise i have been able to come up with. and it is a compromise.

i would imagine that a multisync 'video monitor' type unit would be very nice as well. like the sony "cube" monitors. things that have RGBHV BNC input or DSUB and can sync at 640x480 to even 1024x768... but still offer the nice 25" width. like the things video editors used.... before every studio started going HD. or CCTV systems.
