instant sheller will work for not showing windows but if you want to use windows as well when you close gameex i would recommend putting gameex in startup as instantsheller makes windows load gameex.exe not explorer.exe and simply restarting explorer.exe from taskmanager doesnt load wiondows GUI

What do you mean? I have my system shelled out and if I need to get to the gui, I just ctl-alt-del and run "explorer.exe" as a new task. It launches the full gui for me. In any case, if you want to have access to windows as a normal pc, then there are 2 ways to do that.

1) Do what Michael suggested and add GameEx.exe to your startup folder. This will work, but it will look like you are booting a windows pc. Not a problem if it's a pc, but not the most attractive if it's in a cabinet.

2) Use instant sheller to replace the windows gui (explorer.exe) with GameEx.exe. Then, go to the advanced configuration wizard and go to "Tweaks/Performance" and in the "Launch On Exit" field, put "explorer.exe". Then, go to the second page of "Enable/Disable Features" and turn "Disable Exit" to "No". Now, if you run GameEx and select exit, it will shutdown GameEx and launch the windows gui like normal. If you select shutdown, it will turn off the computer straight away.

Either way works, just depends on what you want it to do!

What system are you running? I think that happened prior to WinXP, so if you are running anything Win95 through Win2000, you might experience this. With WinXP Pro SP2 it does work for sure.

I've seen it do both.....

you are both right...

The only time I tried it I got an explorer window with no GUI also. Not a problem for me though as I do way too much configurating to use a sheller. I run mine in the startup folder in the start menu.
