I could swear I saw a advanced config file to use with mame somewhere, but I cant seem to find it now. Does it have the option to use an advanced config file similar to how the emulators do?

I've asked about this in the past and got no response. I tried creating an advanced config file and naming it MAME, but it did not seem to work. I guess that means that it is not supported.

I wonder why that is, gameex is so MAME oriented, im surprised tom has not implemented that feature for mame.

Guys if you have config files for mame then use this-- Taken directly from mame usage notes

Place this switch in the advanced mame optionsin gameex

Configuration options

---------------------

-[no]readconfig / -[no]rc

Enables or disables the reading of the config files. When enabled

(which is the default), MAME reads the following config files in order:

- mame.ini

- <mymame>.ini (i.e. if MAME was renamed mame060.exe, MAME

parses mame060.ini here)

- mamed.ini (if this is a debug build, i.e. mamed.exe)

- vector.ini (for vector games only)

- <driver>.ini (based on the source filename of the driver)

- <parent>.ini (for clones only, may be called recursively)

- <gamename>.ini

The settings in the later ini's override those in the earlier ini's.

So, for example, if you wanted to disable overlay effects in the

vector games, you can create a vector.ini with the "effect none" line

in it, and it will override whatever effect value you have in your

mame.ini.

----------------------------------------

Unless you are refering to the gameex advanced config that handels keymapping and joystick exit etc...

--------

The reason I believe is that not all emus have the ability to be exited or controlled with a joypad... Tom uses this as a means to correct it.

Mame can be controlled and exited via joypads by configuring the inputs. like ui cancel etc....

What exactly are you trying to do.. maybe someone here can help

Happy gaming

Yeah, as far as I know (and this is how I took it) he was asking about the Advanced Config files in the EMULATORS directory that allow for remapping and exit combo setting and such. There are other ways to accomplish this same stuff with MAME directly, so there is no NEED for this, but it would be a bit more consistent to have it there. Alternately, it might be nice to add to the config help page that there is no MAME file since all settings can be done in MAME directly.

Yes thats what I was asking. I actually didn't recall being able to exit mame from an internal mapping. I always thought I did it through gameex before I started using xpadder.
