Here are 2 config setup's for running PC Games on GameEX...

The two packages show you how to run a PC Game wih and without the need or use of DOSBox (for those older Dos based games).

What I've done is wrote a crued (I mean crued, becasue I am new to this) script to run the games with "Autoit 3.0" along with some batch files. The "ReadMe.txt" file inclosed will tell you how to write the batch files needed, configer GameEX to run the games of your choice, create a batch file to mount/unmount a cd/dvd game with daemon tools and run it in GameEX. It will also tell you what you need as far as programs to use to get the game up and running.

The "PC_DOSBox_Games_Config".zip package has all the files you need for a game installed on your computer and does not require the cd to play, and for a game installed on your computer but does need the game to play. (and how to get around the needing the cd to play part!)

The "PC_Games_Config.zip" package has all the files you need for a game installed on your computer but does not require DOSBox to run it. You can also use the files in the first package with this package to run games that still require the cd to play.

After you have configured one game (timely I'm sure) you can just copy the files for other games and the work only takes about 2 minutes per game.

The Autoit script file also gives you the abiltiy to set up your exit key to EXIT the Game, ie: BACKSPACE, TAB, etc...

The one good thing I do like though, is if your game ever hangs on you, hitting the configured "EXIT" key will terminate the program and take you back to GameEX.

I hope this helps someone out there, or even gives you an idea to make something you've done better.

I've done everything that was stated in the second redme, but i still cant get the pc games running. When i select a game, the screen goes black and then returns me to the pc game "roms" menu. Do you think you can help me out?

There is a program called d-fend .. Its a dos box FE... It lets you run a wizard to setup games in dosbox... Once you set these up you can create shortcuts to your dosbox launchers..

Setup dos box as an emulator..

Put all the shortcuts in a folder. (This will be the rom path and the working path)

make the romfilter *.LNK

make the command line "[rompath]/[romfile]" (all by it self)

This way gameex will just run your working shortcuts... This should work ok

This method works great only weird thing is when you press ESC which I have mapped for exit back to GameEX since its in the DOS environment it usually just responds inside the program until you exit out of the game itself but other than that this works excellent for D-Fend. Great job!

Hiya Brian-

There are actually some good reg hacks that are better than DOS Box..will look for mine that I made..allows for a person to play all older games on XP/Vista...no problems....I probably have six computers in my garage, all various OS's to deal with this issue, but then found some reg hacks that I modified..now all my games run on one computer, no matter their ages..will look for them>>
