They are previews of the MAME artwork. OK sorry for the smarta** comment, they are snaps of the game with the artwork together.

Check out MAME32xt (Link)

Ahhh I can't believe I missed them I was on this webpage a few weeks ago downloading PCB's for testing in CPViewer. I didn't even see them and they're right there in front of my face.

What was the smarta** comment?

I thought I was being a smarta** by just pointing out the obvious: preview artwork = artwork preview. It's ok nobody ever gets my jokes. Guess I'll just climb back under my rock.

So, how are these shown exactly? Are the in fact overlays that are positioned nicely over the .mng/.png for game previews, or what? Anyway, props to Tom as usual.

Yeah whats the deal with these? They look pretty cool. Do you just use them like regular snapshots or what? They look like regular png files to me. They won't show up in GameEx already?

BTW, yes I'm being lazy and haven't tried them myself yet.

Here's a quote from MAME32xt site:

"What they are and how you can see them: These arts are images collection like the classic snapshots, with the difference that you can see the correspondent artwork applied to the game. For seeing them in a new mame32 tab, download the already modified emulator you can find in this page."

To be honest, I haven't tried them yet (guess I was waiting for Tom to get GameEx support -- THANKS TOM!) My understanding is that they are essentially a "screen snapshot" with artwork included. They are meant to be used just like the snaps, titles, pcbs, cps, etc.

Hope that helps.

i still have problems when exiting from games... i use flat menus, when i exit from an emulator instead of going back to the game list the interface shows the start page, but gamepad cannot move on that, i have to click back AGAIN and then i can move the selection, but i have to go back to game list and search again...

OK, yeah, I saw that on the site but I downloaded one of the packs and they are just PNGs. Tom said he added support for these things but GameEx already supported showing PNGs as snapshots, so I'm wandering what I'm missing here. What exactly needed support? Hope I'm making sense, and not sounding stupid here.

I haven't looked at the config program for this version yet, but I would imagine there's some new lines in there. Where there were fields for the locations of snaps, and cabs, and cp's, there is now also fields for pcb's and artwork previews.

As I said, I haven't looked yet, so this is just an assumption... If I'm wrong, this would probably be the ideal way to do it Tom. :)

.mod files are a request I put forward to Tom...basically they are an extension given by digital camera's for mpeg2 video's.

Not exactly sure why they don't use the proper extension...unless its to gauge someone for a video editor that actually realizes .mod files for what they are.

Hi, its just another snap shot that shows on the game info page for MAME games, where you have Marquee, title etc you can now also have a game artwork preview image, if you have the corresponding png files.

so you cant have a "frame around the avi snap" , i thought it was that.

but basicly every game now has a

1 separate avi snap slot

2 , one furhter snapshot slot

and

3 one third game artwork snapshot slot?

well ill just have a try at it and see for myself :)
