has anyone here had experience with the slikstik company? i ordered a classic dual control in may from them for around $600, they charged my credit card and i cant get in touch with them, i have called and spoke with someone and they said the problem was happ controls trackballs are bad and they are waiting for a shipment, i got a hold of them a week later and they said mine was in line for a trackball and its done and the trackballs did arrive. i left a message a week after that and they e-mailed saying parts are coming in slowley and mine unit needs more parts? are these guys nuts? is the company some goof working out of a garage. should i wait or contact the better business burea.

I don't have any personal experience with them, but pretty much all of these companies are more or less based out of a garage somewhere. Although the emulation scene is much bigger now than a few years back, there still isn't enough business to demand warehouse space.

In any case, these guys have been building CP's for a few years with really good reviews. I suspect (although I have no basis for this) that they have several orders a week and it takes them a little time to assemble and finish each one. They might have a couple units in front of you and, although stock of track balls came in, it might not have been enough to satisfy the required components to get through yours. If you have been waiting for 4 months, you should definitely keep asking, but I don't think there is any concern that you are getting screwed.

Just my 2 cents though.

Yeah, I very much doubt your getting screwed or anything, they are a reputable company. They probably suddenly got overhwhelmed with orders. I "heard" that they have been "dropping the ball" a bit lately.

I bought a C02 cab from them in '05. I didn't have any problems with them.

You aren't getting screwed, as Tom said they are a reputable company. However if you ask anyone over at byaoc forum you find that there customer service is horrible. I've read countless threads just like this about people having to wait months for their order. There are some that don't seem to have a problem though, so I guess it just depends. Go post the same thread at byoac and you'll see what I mean.

Dude- you're not getting screwed. They are a small business, as indicated above - I bought a CO2 from them 2 years ago -- I live local and visited them in Nutley, NJ. Christian was very accomodating and gave me a quick tour of the facilities. Yes, they're small - but they're no garage. They had an actual workshop and a small office in the entrance where they had on of their full cab kits on display - it was a thing of beauty. The workshop had one gentleman hard at work on a CP and I saw a bunch of finished CP's (with varying arrays of customized artwork) -- and they were all incredible. They do ridiculously good work -- my CP is solid, amazing, and still works like brand new.

That said, they are not good with their customer service. I know, I just did a 180 on my review. They've been very defensive on BYOAC message boards, to the point of insult. They have next gen panels with really awesome overlays; I emailed to see if they would make the overlays for old-school designs (ha - 2 years old is old-school!) and was ignored. Finally, I got a very short note after a bit more prodding saying "no." No big deal. No love lost.

So -- Customer service? Meh. Product - Outstanding! You're going to love it man.

i hope you guys are right, it looks like a neat product but they wont respond to e-mails and wont return my calls on the voice machine that i leave .i cant understand how any company can still be around with no comunication with customers and charging the customers credit card for $600 and no straight answer as to why it takes 3 months plus to get what i have allready paid for? i wish this company was as concerned with support as tom is with game-ex, i have never seen support like the support that comes with game-ex and its not even his bread and butter bussines. its a hobby i have seen in other forums people bitch about having to pay for the registration for game-ex and they are stupid because for what little they pay, they will get support that a commercial product cant even come close to.

thanks tom for every thing with game-ex
