I know the GameEx uses the command line to launch emus, but I was wondering if there was any way to access some of the GUI fetures of these emus even though running GameEx.

Such as the Netplay feature in Zsnes, or the Cheat feature built into Project64... I know it's lame to cheat, but it's fun to kick my girlfriends ass in MarioKart64 after setting the RedShell weapon to stay forever ;)

And as for netplay, I'm still new to the whole Emu scene, it may be awhile before I ever try out the netplay feature, but the idea sounds awesome.

is there a way to access these features even if I launch the Emu Apps through GameEx?

For example, Zsnes has ESC key go to the GUI, but if launched from GameEx ESC just closes back to the game list. Can I change what key GameEx uses to close emus, or has anyone worked out a more clever approach?

Any guidence would be appreciated...

Thanks

PS., one more quick (unrelated question)... Is there any reason for me to use Nebula instead of MAME for neogeo games? They seem to run fine in Mame, and I'd rather not add another emu if I don't have to. Does anyone else here run Nebula or that Kewaksa (misspelled I'm sure) to run NeoGeo games?

Oh there probably is...tho it would likely require some semi creative coding in AutoIt & setting up special keys with Xpadder.

Hell I run Nebula, WinKawaks & Final Burn Alpha for NeoGeo.

As for why Nebula vs Mame....well NeoGeo CD...as I'm not aware of Mame supporting that...and transparency's...likely a few other things but those are the bigger reasons that I'm aware of.

Anyways making GameEx network playable would be cool...and maybe I'll sit down one of these days and get things setup.

i agree. i find the best emus for netplay are nestopia, mame32, snes9x, gens+, project64 ((although i played online a short while at least 8 months back, i know project 64 couldn't run netplay in full screen which is corny)) --basically the kaillera client kicks ass. i couldn't imagine getting it to run in gameex (and for those of us with lo-def televisions in our cabs) would have trouble reading the servers/games to join. if you can do it more power to ya, it'd be cool to meet up on the gameex forum and challenge each other to a game. then we could really get some cool free registration raffle tournaments if tom's feeling hip to do so.

Not sure about the netplay and such but to change the way the emulator closes, set map keys = no in the GameEx configuration for ZSNES. After doing this you will have to exit ZSNES through the GUI. This may work for N64 as well unless you are using an advanced config. If thats the case you would edit the Project64.ini in the C:\Program Files\GameEx\CONFIG\EMULATORS folder. (BTW I noticed there is a ZNES INI in this folder as well, if using this you would edit it to get the map keys turned off.) In other words if you are using an advanced config ini change MapEscape=True to say MapEscape=False, unless your not using an advanced config. If so just set map keys = no in the config for the emulator in question. Sorry if I'm not making sense, its been a long night.
